Probably far fetched but would be interested in people's thought's here.

In a year where we have struggled in the sweeping half back role who can run out of defence with pace and skill (Stevens, Scotland have struggled a little this year in this role), a fit Wells would be ideal.

North & Wells just dosen't seem to be working. Yes, he's been injured almost 50% of his time there and perhaps both parties need a change..

Would really like to see him finally at the Blues, only problem i see with Wells off HB is he doesnt kick the ball enough, maybe its just Norths way of playing him, but we need a player who can kick long and break the lines to play that position, not someone to hanball it off HB.

Wells is yet another example of a player that would cost a hell of a lot more to bring to the club than we would hopefully be willing to give up.

I know he has been injured, and that he is a very talented footballer, but he is also lazy and soft.

North would most probably demand a 1st round pick or eqiuvalent, whereas I'd much rather embrace the draft whilst we can.

I'd offer a 2nd round pick at best, but there's no way on earth that the Roos would accept that.

It might be a year to offer a first round pick, from all reports the depth of talent in this year's draft is pretty light on.

Agree with this post completely :thumbsu:
What players would we be willing to give up in a trade like this?

Whilst I like idea of a fit and in form Daniel Wells running around in Navy Blue, the problem with this is he never appears to be in form and fit. At his best, he is a great player, and does provide a lot of run and carry, however,it does worry me that we may not ever see this form again.

I do think that Wells and the Kangaroos may part company at years end, but I doubt he'll find his way to Visy Park. May return West - perhaps to West Coast.

A fit Walker can fill the half back running out of defence with pace, issue is skill, which has improved a lot in the few times he's played of late, but yeah there's still room for more improvement. The upside for Walker over Wells is Walker works his a*se off, is probably quicker and will throw his weight around when need be.

I'd back Walker over Wells for this, yes, you can say Walker gets injured but isn't that also Well's problem? Also, we don't have to give up anything for Walker, and can concentrate on developing that next key forward which should probably be Carlton's main focus given Fev's 28.

I don't want this over-rated, soft as butter downhll skier anywhere near Carlton ...

I think he spends more time at the Catholic Church then he does busting a gut down at Arden St (Wells)

This years first round will be as strong as most years. It's a little later that the talent is expected to thin out early. ;)

Wells is tempting. Put him Walker and Yarren in our structure in 12 months time and i don't see us being burned-off the way we were against Essendon.

North would have to thrown in Ziebell as a 'sweetner' if they think they can get a first rnd draft pick from us for Wells ...

Geez that Ziebell looks so classy, and if there was anyone from North worth pursuring it's him in a couple of years ...

I wouldn't even give a 2nd rnd draft pick for Wells he is 'damaged' goods IMHO ... Promises the world, and delivers little ...

I would trade our no 1 pick for BJ Goddard though, but sadly I think he's a saint for life now ... :(
He should have been a blue ...

You would have called him a superstar and not allowed anyone to bag him here if he was a Carlton player.

If the depth is shallow then a first round pick becomes far more valuable to us so we would be reluctant to trade it, and by inference a second and third round pick less valuable so first round pics would become the only currency of value so this year trades are going to be thin on the ground I think. The only inducement for North to trade is if Wells contract is up and he wants out, they either get what they can or nothing in the PSD. So again why would we give up a first round pick in a shallow draft. And with a few years of compromised drafts just when our list is improving and the likelihood of early picks vanishing, I cant see us trading a first round pick.
