Hi Guys

Couldn't see his thread anymore.

However, I saw alot of Richmond supporters were fans of his.

I went to the Port trial on Saturday and thought I would let you know he looked very good.

He kicked a couple of nice goals, once settled linked up well at half back and took a speckie (I heard, didn't see).

I hope he get's promoted as it's always good to see injury prone players who get another shot do well.

I just thought I would give the interested people a heads up. I beleive the picture of his speckie is in the family day thread on the Port board. Fantastic photo.

How's Adam Thomson going your way? I wasn't a big fan of him last year, but again would like to see him do well.

Thomson has been training very well from all reports and should get a crack in the NAB Quarter final vs Collingwood. On Meyer, I always rated him despite what people think I thought he had natural talent and just needed to be developed, should do well for you guys.

Played a serviceable game for the Power yesterday (including a raking 9 pointer from about 55m out). If the body holds up to the rigours of AFL footy, he will be a valuable player for the Port running across the half back line!

Gotta ask what were his deficiencies during his time at the Tigers apart from injury, because after yesterday I think our entire supporter base is blown away by the fact we picked him up with our 2nd or 3rd pick in the rookie draft. He clearly looked like a #12 draft pick like he originally was, and it's boggling to think he just grew confidence over pre-season. Mind you after seeing our 1st rookie Wade Thompson it was clear that the draft was deep if he didn't get picked up.

He looks extremely composed, skillful, hard at it, was shrugging tackles and run very well through the lines.

In fact he is probably close to pipping Surjan, Stewart, Thomas, Lower & Marlon Motlop for our hotly contested BP/HBF spot, and is almost certain to be promoted at some stage through the year.

seemed to have a condition called peaheart at tigerland

simply didn't want to be here, any tiger supporter will tell you he had/has all the necessary tools to be a very good player - highly skilled, quick, good size but just refused to have a red hot go. had a hip injury along the way and played enough good footy at coburg last season that i thought he would remain on our list but obviously not.

showed some amazing glimpses and one goal he kicked against the cats a skilled a couple of years ago was amazing. pure class. if he stays injury free should be a great pick up for you guys, sad to see him go, but probably he needed a change of scenery.

I said it before and I'll say it again: Meyer, injury free, was about to do a Kelvin Moore.

Finished his season for Coburg like we had a new gun recruit and I was shocked we delisted him. The only forgiveable excuse would be his hip injuries are chronic.

We traded pick 42 for Adam Thomson and Port got Meyer for free... I hope this "swap" doesn't look like a joke by the end of the year.

no point getting upset over it, rodan would never have done anything at punt road and likely as not neither would meyer. get over it, you win some and you lose some.

Meyer will be successful at Port. The way they play is perfect for Danny Meyer.. its a no bullshit club and I think smaller fowards thrive under Mark Williams.

However, I do think its bleeding obvious that Meyer will start to be successful. The signs were there.

i certainly agree

looked like near the end of the season he was ready to step up. Who knows though, prehaps he and the staff had an honest one one and they both agreed that richmond wasn't the right club for him. They may have told him that they will play him at the burgers and he can use that as a chance for himself to get re-drafted by one of the adelaide clubs - and thats why he stood up - at the motivation of going back home.

I love Thomson (see my 'other teams' column) and was bitterly disappointed he was frozen out last year before he rightly demanded a trade elsewhere.

He just needs a serious opportunity. At Port he'd have a couple of really good games with minimal gametime (say 60-70 minutes), follow up with a quieter one possession-wise in similar time but with stacks of grunt, selfless acts and one-percenters (like his last game in Port colours) and he'd find himself back at Sturt.

If all things are equal it should be a win/win.

IMO it seemed from day 1 he wanted to go home. Did his time in Melbourne and finally got the release. If this is true, pity he didn't put in more of an effort with us. Then again, maybe he did, and it was the injuries that held him back. If so, good luck to the lad now he is 100% and back home.

Hopefully Thommo comes along for us and rips it up. The guys that never give in get my vote. (See ya Fiona!)

Also think that he just ran out of chances, but I bet he'll be a solid player for Port, back home with his head right.

looked pretty good at coburg the few times i saw him there...would have liked him to stick around another year, but...i really like our list and someone had to go...and if he wasn't happy...

hope he does well with port

I have a feeling that it will. Danny's last few games for Coburgh were good and there was nothing peaheart about his playing style in those games. Anyway i hope he does well.

good luck to the kid and hope he realises his goals. At the end of the day, we move on with our plan and another club can include him in their plan.
Its par for the course for players in his position. His position isnt any different to Hislop's, along with others in that age group who had the "potential" tag haning over them, but also had the "attitude" tag having over them too, who were picked up, after being discarded.
They all have their chance to right the ship. The ball is in their court. ;)

I don't know what it is about Port/Richmond delists and pickups, but this has all the hallmarks of the Rodan move. In my opinion, that is a very good thing.

I've said it many times that Rodan being delisted opened a small, nugget-shaped door in the Richmond midfield through which only Nathan Foley could fit and with McMahon, Newman, Raines, Tambling and Thompson as well as half the rest of the midfield rotation vying for running half-back roles as well as midfield time, I think both the Port and Richmond lists are healthier and happier now that Meyer has moved to Alberton.

And I think both Rodan and Meyer would say they are more than happy at Port.

It's win/win/win.
