Dark Horses This Year

Matthew Bate, mainly because he could go much higher than people expect. Go Croydon!

Ive got my money on young Rufus McSnivell being a late pick. He has improved greatly this year after a stellar season with Smithville.

This the REAL mann speaking and ive kept my eye on a joung Trevor McGibbon. Not many people have seen this kid play becuase he lives and plays in the country. Trev got the runner up mail medal for the Mid North-Eastern central league in SA. The thing is Trevs only 16 making him one of the unknown darkies of draft 2005. I'm not saying he will go high i'm just saying he'll get drafted when noone has scouted him.

Is he eligable at 16, I though he had to be 17 min.

This kid is a gun. Looks the good. Pick 73 to Fremantle is my guess.

Hawks are looking for KPP players, I think they may take him with pick 53, their last pick in the draft.
Hawks should draft as follows:
2. Best Avaliable - Richard Tambling (probable)
5. Best Avaliable - Jarryd Roughead (probable)
7. Best Avaliable - Angus Monfries
21. KPP - Roury Kirkby
26. Ruckman - Ivan Maric
53. KPP - Jack Juniper

That would leave us with 2 Super quick, hard at it, sublimely skilled Midfielders, 2 strong bodied KPP, A developing ruckman, and a project player/KPP in Juniper.

ive heard of a kid by the name of Ian Peter Daily from the mallee. not a bad pick up, unfortunate initials though

All the players mentioned above are a waste of money! Jackson Barling will get drafted!!!

There is a bloke by the name of Josh Linton from Western Jets who would be a smoky for this years draft. He had a good start to the year and can play! Hes unlucky that there is not 150 picks in the draft, he might be a real chance then!! haha
Could be a chance for a rookie list though, maybe Collingwood (Williamstown)

Kirkby will probably go before pick 21

There is a young player at Subiaco named Darren Rumble who has played every league game this year including the GF. He is a strongly built defender and did quite well at the WA Screening. Would be a very good pick up.

Matthew Spangher - Eastern Ranges, if not a late draft pick, maybe a rookie draft prospect

Can't get rookied this year as he has another year of U/18. A few clubs maybe having a sniff as they should - he'll go high next year. Has got it all, would blow away this years draft stats (time trial and shuttle run) at 193cm and has played footy all his life, not one of those basketballers. Just needs the body mass which will come.

Interesting you say that - Matthew's father told someone at work he had nominated - I thought he was eligible for the draft this year although bottom age - but that certainly he can play U/18 in 2005

Yes he is only about 79 kg, but from all reports, a damn good footballer.....

Sorry about the confusion, I meant he can't be 'rookied' not 'drafted' :) - He is able to nominate (I'm assuming he would have nominated) so therefore is eligible for the draft this year. But can't be put on a rookie list as he has another year of eligibility.
Great player - strong grab, kicks both feet and mobile.

You were quite clear in mentioning he can't be 'rookied' - it was me that didn't know the eligibility rules :-( What so you can be drafted at 17, but not rookie listed until 18 ?
Well I didn't know that was the case at all, don't know that I quite understand either.....

A bloke who didn't play U/18 but was invited to state screening camp from Geelong College called Hamish Troon might be looked at for a rookie listing.
