You'd think that just his natural ability and size/frame/age would make him a top 10 certainty, if not top 5.

Was it a conspiracy by the Eagles or just dumb luck??

Health issues - Got king hit in northbridge, word that a big hit to his head could effectively end his career.

On topic though, massive amounts of man love for JD and love that by slipping it in on school camp and slipping on the pavement outside a club, he managed to slip to the team he supported and stay in WA.

This - apparently we hid him in the WAFL with West Perth and had him selected in the U/18 championships where no-one thought to look.

His form for WP and in the 18s Champs leading into the draft was pretty poor , couldn't get a kick for WP in the forward line ! .................................... However since joining the AFL system he grew an xtra leg and has shown greater enthuisiam then what he showed at WP .
