Richmond has thrown Crows discard Darren Pfeiffer a lifeline by giving him the chance to impress at pre-season training.

Snapped up by Adelaide with pick 17 in 2005, he will begin training with the Tigers at Punt Road next Monday.

Pfeiffer's manager, Liam Pickering, confirmed several clubs had shown interest in the 183cm half back/wingman, but said no promises had been made by Richmond.
Well if you do manage to get him you've got yourself a steal. He'll impress you on the track, what with his contested marking, good skills and athletic abilities.

i wish the roos invited him down, hopefully we invite grima and collard now tho

Another HBF/Winger?

Why do we need a guy like this. We would be better off to take a punt on a young ruckman or KPP who may or may not work out. A guy like Collier last year would have been handy to pick up in the PSD (instead of Kingsley), as he will go top 20 this year and it is this type of underaged player that we should go for.

Maybe because he's a great young talent? First round draft pick, recently turned 20 so he's still young, and he'll be more talented than pretty much anyone you could draft. He can virtually play anywhere on the ground and I see him playing a LOT of football at the top level. If you're not interested I can assure you plenty of other clubs will be there to snap him up. But luckily your club recognises the talent.

Agree with all you've said but ommitted his achilles heel being liking the turps a bit too much, hopefully being delisted is his wake-up call.

I dont know much about him at all, but if he's as good as you say, why'd he get the @ss?

He did like to stay out a little late and drink a bit too much but nothing that Wallace cant get out of him I wouldnt think. Drummond over-rates him a bit but he is still a great talent who deserves another go somewhere else. I would suggest his best mate Cleve Hughes would have something to with this, seen as he was a guest at Darrens house recently.

Very happy with this news.
We were keen on him in 05 in the draft and would have taken him before Hughes if available so im glad to hear he is training with us.

Hes not a natural forward, more so a guy who can run off his man and kick a long range goal. He played all of his junior footy either in the midfield or down back. Got a pretty good engine, a full pre-season will see him ready to roll. Most of us crows supporters were amazed at his delisting, a little bit of ill-discipline cost him, nothing to do with his ability. I do hope he gets a go at Tigerland, its 1 of the very few Victorian teams I dont mind :D. He'll add to a pretty good crop of young guys that youve got.

I agree that he is a pretty good talent and I would love to hear Commetti call "Pfeiffer to Pettifer" but brown_2000au raises a very important point. What is with these HBF's/wingman?

So far we have pick up McMohan (HBF), Morton (HFF), and now maybe Pfeiffer? It suggests that its gonna be real hard for guys like Casserly to get a look in.

Pfeiffer could be a solid player for us - but in many ways Richards would be a more intelligent pick up

I seriously hope there are better options than this useless lug remaining to bolster our rucks...with gus. simmo and patto we can afford to invest in another rookie ruckman rather than a proven flop

We have so many 183-186cm players and do we need another one? I say no everyone else who supports RFC agrees. We need another ruckman and some key position players would be handy as well :D

Yea but where are we going to find one of those in the pre season draft??? Smart move having him train with us, let the recuiting staff decide if he's good enough!

If there was no-one else available, then i'd definately be prepared to give this kid a shot!

Sounds like he has talent, so hopefully he can get his act together off-field.

If we were to go after Pfeiffer, would we be more likely to pick him up late in the ND (eg. #67), in the PSD, or in the Rookie draft?
