Essendon excitement machine, Alwyn Davey, will miss tomorrow's ANZAC day clash with Collingwood after injuring himself during training this morning.

Team manager, David Calthorpe, said Davey will have scans on Monday.

"Alwyn won't play tomorrow after hurting his right knee in training," he said.

"It was an innocuous incident. He was simply doing a running drill and there was no player contact so we are at a loss to explain exactly why it happened.

"It's unfair to speculate on what he has done but, based on initial tests, we are quite concerned.

"Further examination on Monday will reveal the full extent of the injury."

Calthorpe said losing Davey is a blow because he is an important player and was excellent in last year's ANZAC day game.

No announcement has been made on who - out of emergencies Damien Peverill, Nathan Lovett-Murray or Darcy Daniher - will replace Davey in the side.

I was excited that Myers was going to get a run, but it was Daniher listed in the emergencies, not Myers as I thought. I guess NLM will come in then, which means the actual change of Davey for Johns looks ridiculous.

I was so looking forward to him cutting through the Collingwood defence tomorrow. We can't take a trick with injuries this year. The only bright side is I tipped Collingwood in my work tipping comp today.

As much as I hate to say this, we can't win tomorrow now.

Alwyn is the most important player at Essendon and his injury on top of Lucas and McVeigh means we are man for man completely outmatched against every other side in the comp bar Melbourne at the moment.

I really thought we could beat Collingwood tomorrow too.

Wouldn't be surprised if you do. We are playing like rubbish at the moment. Davey out is a plus for us. I've been having visions of him and Lovett running rings around us. Tomorrow is very much 50/50 imo. As usual though, whatever happens, it'll be a great occasion and I'm looking forward to the atmosphere. Here's for a ripping game. Good luck.

Damn. I always had a sense someone was going to pull out, but never did I think it was Davey. I had a doubt on Lloyd in my mind. At least I know my sixth sense is working ok, just needs fine tuning. That sucks. I am not so confident now. Can we still name Myers, or do we have to go with an emergency. It is still early enough to make a change isn't it?

Hey guys, it said on fox sports news that it was a serious knee injury.

Although it also says at the bottom, "Essendon midfielder Aaron Davey suffers serious knee injury in training today"

Hopefully its not too bad, love watching him play

Just once I would like to go in with a semi strength full side and show the rest of the AFL what we are capable of.

Watch areswipes like Fatprick Smith, Walls etc get stuck into us now when we lose tomorrow.

Yep, FOX news report are saying Essendon are fearing the worst. It might be a knee Reco, gone for the season. Lets hope scans show otherwise. I think we can resign to losing him for at least 6, probably more. God what a cursed year.

Anyhoo, this will show how much heart we have tomorrow. On the plus side, at least we have no excuses for not getting experience into the younger guys.

We are Essendon, we will adapt, and be better for anything the Footy Gods throw at us!
