What are your thoughts on David Armitage? Seems like the type of player we need, a tough inside midfielder with good hands. He's done really well since the championships and even won the Queensland football rising star award. He can win the hard ball in the middle of the packs and can also recieve and pass to a leading foward. He's also good running off half back. What I've really been impressed with though is that he appears to be a hard worker who will do whatever it takes to make it at AFL level.

So what do you guys think of us drafting him at 17 and 19? How would you compare him to other prospects that would be options at this point in the draft (ie. Petterd)?

P.S Does anyone know where you can find footage of div one matches from the championships?

No way we will take him with 1, and I doubt he will still be around at 17.

If he is, he will be one of quite a few that will come into consideration. The club will need to be very clever with who they select at these picks, there will still be plenty of great talent available. Same goes for 19, 35 and even 51.

I'm hopeful the club will make the right decisions here as well Jeremias. I've got an idea of who I would select, but we wont know until Nov 25.

Correct-I know who I hope we take. However, it is entirely in the hands of the club, and I hope they make the right decisions. I believe they will. It will be VERY interesting to see what happens come draft day.

He might go to the Lions at pick 4... Burgan knows something.. he usually predicts the big movers and sliders.

Fair enough that, but I wrote in another thread that Brisbane would be mad to pass up an opportunity to draft a KP Defender, probably Thorp, now that both Michael and Leppitsch have retired.

Yep. Armitage will no doubt be a good player. BUT at pick 4 there are still plenty of players that will probably be better than him. Brisbane simply wouldn't do it IMO.

Just becuase he's from QLD shouldn't mean the Lions go for him just on that basis. It's not like they've lost alot of players in the past due to homesickness.

Well they look like losing one this year in Moody...still, I would be very wary of picking him so early at pick 4 especially given the talent available in this draft. Surely the Lions, just like basically every other club, should go best available with their first pick at least.
