will collingwood redraft david fanning? he got best on a couple of weeks back against Werribee. I have a few mates down at port melbourne reckon he has been toweling it up and has a good chance of getting on an AFL list come next yr?

Yep, I hear once we delisted him all 15 clubs tried to sign him, but he decided to go to Port Melbourne. Absolute champion.

I think it will definately be worth a mature age rookie spot. We need ruckman depth still, and we have developed him, and despite not performing at the club, we have to remember we probably needed the patience for an experimental type...considering he went down Brogan's path.

The way he has been going in the VFL signals he has shown some development, and he also has done okay around the ground. I think a definate look in, even a PSD pick. He won't play every game, nor guaranteed a single game, however, we lack that depth.

So does Guy Richards, yet when he gets back into the side, he always sucks

He is an outside chance to resume an AFL career next year, probably not Collingwood though because the clubs ego would be too big to redraft somebody they've already dumped. Thats why Josh Mahoney went right under our noses and won a Premiership for the Power.

Can a previous rookie listed player be re-rookied?

There's no chance in hell that the pies will pick up Fanning.
Had his chance, the one we should have kept is Jason Cloke,he would very handy right now in our backline with the injuries we have.
We need to recruite an experienced strong bodied ruckman next year.
Someone like Charmen, biglands,Sandilands or someone who has been in the system for a year playing seniors like a Taylor from Hawthorn or Macintosh from the kangas.
One ruck option to consider recruiting could be Meyer from Williamstown,he would be better than Fanning.Richards can join fanning at port melb next year when he gets delisted.

He can be put on the rookie list, but only if he is under 23.

You can't list him as a mature age rookie because he has already been on an AFL list. This was shown to be a stupid rule when WCE couldn't list Brad Smith as a mature age rookie.

I know you can drop a rookie and re draft him in the rookie draft because I am sure it has been done before. It’s what we should have done with Fanning after his first 2 year rookie stint. If he was the best ruckman available come rookie draft time I’d rookie him assuming he fit the criteria. I’ve never been a fan but a couple of years down the track lot’s can chance with ruckmen.
