Re: DJ to retire today

2 times VFL premier, 1 time NAB cup winner. Not a bad record for a reserve :thumbsu:

Re: DJ to retire today

So it is off to the Gold Coast for DJ now?
I believe this is the case.

Solid career from the best bloke you are ever likely to meet - that GF eve incident tarnished his reputation, but make no mistake he is an excellent guy to have at your footy club.

Re: DJ to retire today

Great servant of the club and just about the most courageous player in the hoops over the last few years. His total disregard for his own safety was amazing. Good luck on the GC!

Ditto.

It was a pleasure to watch him when he was in the side.

Fantastic servant of the club. He would have been a "best 22" player at most other clubs. I would have been more than happy seeing him get a one year contract.

I posted a few weeks ago that he was going to retire after speaking to him at the best and fairest. I tried to convince him to reconsider and I thought he must have heeded my words until today. Good luck to a top bloke. He was offered a job with GC with player development but he was unsure what he was going to do, but he was strongly consdidering it.

Thanks to DJ for all his efforts over the last few years. Always stepped up to the plate when we needed him. Thought he played a really good game against the Hawks in R17 last year but wasn't able to keep his spot.

Sorry to see him go at only 28 years old but all the best to him for the future.

Re: DJ to retire today

He did a runner on the cops, that was what turned it into more than just a D&D.

But nobody holds it against him.

Give him a break...he was still on the gas celebrating the vfl flag....:thumbsu::)

I liked him alot, gave his all....and atleast he has one feather in his cap, he kept cizza rioli reasonably quiet in that r17 clash of 08 - geez that seems a life time ago that match !!!!!

I'm upset he wont play 100 games, it would have be good to have his name on the #28 locker. Any chance he will play at the gold coast ?

A have alot of respect for DJ.

Congratulations on a very solid career. A shame he could not make it to 100 games, but certainly deserves all the praise in this thread.

Congratulations to DJ on his career at Geelong. I loved how he could come into the team at the last minute and make a good fist of tough opponents in defence. He linked up really well with our solid defence and certainly gave his all. Best of luck to him in whatever he does here on. Bravo!

Bugger the GC...tho $$$$ do speak many languages, i think DJ would be gr8 as a development coach in our vfl/ afl system.
From what i have seen on these boards over his career, he is very much liked throughout the GFC.
