Has anyone else been a little puzzled at the absolute lack of mention David King has gotten in respects to who our next captain will be?

Now i am not for one moment intimating that Stevo or Arch wouldn't be worthy incumbents, but all the discussion seems to suggest either them or Simpson or possibly Colbert, without King rating a mention at all.

I must admit to being a massive David King fan and do believe he would be ideal to take over the Captaincy, particularly in the current climate we find ourselves in. The guy is a gun player, plays more good games than bad, leads by example, is inspirational, is excellent with the young blokes, is charasmatic, gives his all for the club, is brilliant at club functions when it comes to the supporters, is articulate and funny (the latter not necessarily a pre-requisite to captaincy, but he is a funny bloke!) and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty for the good of the club (apparenlty voluntarily painted the club rooms at Arden St?).

Considering the amount of publicity our next captain is guranteed, and considering it is vital we display an ability to not only move on from all this drama, but turn over a new page and make a big statement that there is life after Carey, we need someone who can be prepared to get out there and promote the club, the players and everything that is North Melbourne and help us take what is going to need to be a monumental step forward.

For mine, David King is that man.

Agree.

Arch and Stevo are a bit close to the trouble. Whoever takes over will need to comfortable in the media's spotlight, which Stevo aint. Kingy should be the man. He posseses every quality you listed, and would enjoy the job more than the other two, IMO.

I'd be happy if Kingy got the nod as our next captain. It is a bit strange that his name hasn't come up at all.

I'm not actually sure how popular David is within the playing group. While I don't think he is disliked, I also don't think he is particularly close to anyone down there anymore. I also heard a disappointing story about about how David was the only player not to turn up to pre-Christmas drinks after the boys' final training session before the break.

Kingy was apparently offered a pretty good deal with Freo at the same time as Belly. He held off signing with the Roos while he weighed up his options. It was to do with the fact that he hadn't been offered a contract extension the year prior. I remember his quote being along the lines of "loyalty goes both ways".

While his motivation might have been understandable, no doubt it would have ticked off a few at the club.

It didn't stop Richmond from making Wayne Campbell captain....not that Campbell is fit to tie up David King's shoe laces or anything.

i love kingy, and he would make a good captain, but judging from pagan's stubborness and dogmatic approach to getting what he wants, i don't think he'll look past stevo
