Thought he was quite nervous in the 1st half but found his rhythm in the 2nd and showed he will be an extremely good player for the crows in the years to come. Should play round 2 for sure.

Just some general thoughts about his debut game today?

he had three kicks where he overkicked the ball, and it ended up with the bulldogs. so decision making and kicking, he's gotta work on...because if your teammate have the front position and is running in your direction, the ball should be placed in front of them not around them. then again, it was his first AFL game.
not too sure whether i'd have him or Vince in the team at this stage; Vince was very average.

Thats the pressure of the real stuff. Because his disposal is usually brilliant.

Loved the piece of play where he turned on the jets in the middle, sprinted off and banged it long into the 50. Kick wasn't the best, but you have to love the confidence.

He'll only get better. He's going to be ****ing good.

Was impressed with DMAC today.. His hands in close and under pressure were very good!

Look forward to watching him play again next week!

First game nerves - he normally has pin-point disposal.

He'll end up being twice the footballer that Vince will ever be IMO.

His playing style indicates that he could carry that light frame through the bulk of an AFL season. Douglas, and Knights to a lesser degree, struggled to have an impact early in their careers, were always under pressure and made a lot of errors. They always seemed to get caught with the ball. Clearly out-sized and this took its toll on them. Both played plenty of SANFL games.

Mackay seems to be more the run-and-carry type and with Thompson, Porplyzia, van Berlo and Knights emerging as genuine in-and-under midfield options there is definitely a place for Mackay to play regularly this season.

DMAC will be a star - already he has the confidence to carry the ball.

Other players like Douglas, Thompson, and Doughty are still learning to take responsibility for their own possessions instead of dishing the quick panic hand-off....MacKay is already miles in front in this department

I loved his run through the middle. Took a WB player on and burnt him off. Overcooked his kick a little but it was still good to see. Give him a few games and those kicks will go down the throat of either Goodwin, Burton or Tippet.

love the look of this bloke. great left foot and an on field attitude that you would love to play alongside. good thread dayneh88, its about time this guy gets some props - star in the making with a bit of a cult following back home.

Really liked his game today. Pretty sure he is right leg though. Just over cooked it a bit. Should be way ahead of Vince after today's effort though

How much game time did he get for his 10 possessions?

Absolute class. As i said, he had to play R1, and he must stay.

Both he and Vince have got the attributes to be top players, with Mackay the pick.

Douglas is the one who concerns me. Certainly kicked 2 great goals today but will need to get involved in the game more. For a guy who appears to have limited pace he must show more smarts to accumulate more possessions and more awareness when he has the ball. I have my doubts on him becoming anything more than good but i'm glad he will get an extended run this year to prove it either way.

 As I said in another thread not sold on Douglas yet but after today how can you say Vince looks a better player than Douglas? Vince was shite today.

It's an accumulative position, not simply based on today.

Douglas is confirming my fears despite some positives to balance it out today.

Vince was undeniably poor today. Found almost as much ball as Douglas with what i suspect was far less game time, or at least less time in the centre/wing regions BUT his disposal was the problem. Yes, pressure of the 'real stuff' had an impact but usually he has very good foot skills and his work under the slightly less pressure of the NAB final was excellent imo. Time will tell but i feel Vince is the better player. In cricket terms Vince will be like a Mark Waugh whereas Douglas will be a Steve Waugh but with a much poorer average (hope the analogy makes sense!)

Very happy with Mackay, I would like to see him get a little more game time and if fit, he most definitely should be in our first 22, I'd also keep Vince in, at the moment he's a little up and down, but you'll get that from younger, more inexperienced players, give him a few games to settle in the midfield, Douglas is similar, was much more impressive today IMO, than he has been, give him a few games so he feels like he belongs and he will start to reward us for it. Gee, I'm liking the look of our young midfield and I havn't even touched on Porplyzia.

D-MAC is teasing us atthe moment with Flashes of class

IMO he has a big game in him, now with Radar down he will get his opportunity to stake his claim

looks the goods and with the class factor should be a star. IMO better signs than vince and douglas. DMAC has shown great attitude and confidence!

I like the look of this kid and he has pace to burn. With KMac and now DMac we are starting to sound like a basketball team.

Don't forget Tippett. And do we still play that charity basketball game every year? I guess with Smyth on the way out or gone already, Craig's real agenda is to move the Crows playing list over to the 36ers!
