I loved his game tonight. Gutsy and determined would be how I would describe him. I haven't seen much of him.......but I think he will be a top little player.

Living up to FD88's billing of him as the best talent on the list. A truly outstanding prospect, has pace, exquisite skills and awareness. Just waiting for him to kick his first AFL goal but he will in time.

Gun in the making, has future elite written all over him.

I just don't get David Mackay. Such a skinny lad with such little experience just shouldn't be able to get the ball AND dispose of it cleanly so often and so reliably as he has been this year.

Every time I see him I think "he shouldn't have been able to do that" and yet he keeps doing it.

I wonder if the AFC will try to get him to change his body shape or just get him to keep doing what he's been doing?

It was never a question of what he would learn at the lower level. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that this kid is AFL quality NOW. It's just a matter of his body getting a battering week-in-week-out in the AFL and many of us thought he might have benefited from a week in the (comparatively) less physical SANFL, just to freshen him up a bit.

Turns out he didn't need a rest at all!

I never bought that fairy tale invented on this board that Mackay was getting less possessions because he needed a rest from AFL.

I know he's young but he wasn't going to be tired after Round 6.

Craig has carefully managed his time on the ground and that was the real factor determining his number of possessions eg 9 last week in 45% of the time.

That mangement by Craig was reflected in his game this week. :thumbsu:

I'm a huge fan of Mackay. He's a young, classy little bugger, and will hopefully play 200+ games for us. :thumbsu:

Wasn't there more than a few people on this board last week or two who thought that he needed to spend some time back at South Adelaide

Yeah I'll put my hand up ....though he was tiring a little .....with such a small frame and all that running & chasing I thought his body could do with a refresh.

But hey what a fantastic game tonight ...... this kid oozes class

How many Crows players have only played 1 SANFL game and then gone straight to AFL and doing what he's doing ....... I really can't recall any?

He will be a star!

The quality of what he did was exceptional for a six game player.

He looks to be in a class of his own as far as young midfielders we have had are concerned.

Hard at it, backs himself and excellent vision. Close to our best.

I tend to agree. Craigy has managed D-Mac's game time well and the reason he got more opportunities this week was because of Symes missing out with an ankle.

Talking about clean players, D-Mac is one of them. Can play both inside and ourside role, runs and carries weel and is a beautiful kick of the ball. I suspect he will play all the games this year, injury permitting.

I was super impressed with his game. I too was one who thought he could have done with a run in SANFL. Boy was i wrong he was awesome. Really showed his speed tonight and his run with the ball and kicking was exquisite. Also reminded me of Reilly with his kicking. 10 contested possesions is fantastic. Great game :thumbsu::thumbsu:

He has super vision as well.. Always looking to the middle of the ground instead of along the flanks. He will be a great player for our club.

He needs to bulk up and 'strengthen up' a bit - but they wont want to turn him into a tank or anything, just make sure he throw himself in (which he already does) without fear of getting hurt.

The kid is a star already - his disposal (especially under pressure) is just fantastic.

To think he's only played 6 games of AFL - he looks like he's played a hell of a lot more.

I was impressed with his confidence, he backed himself to bounce the ball in the dewy conditions.

All Class :thumbsu:

Uh oh. Woenaeamirri had a superb game for the Demons. I reckon he might get the nomination for Round 7.

he moves like a thoroughbred.....all class

one minor thing Craigy will be working on though, a couple of times he was on the run 60-70 metres from goal and delivered the ball in to the hot spot way too high...gives the defenders too much time to set for the spoil.

But look forward to seeing him develop
