Re: Wojo injured?

Hmm, that could pose issues.
I wouldnt like to see Byrnes come in underdone - and you would be assuming that dasher would come in if SJ misses.

Having said that, not as vital as a Selwood or Chapman.
If he is training tomorrow then I would say its all good.
Just gives Malthouse something to think about :)

Here's some news;

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/daily-decider-digest-tuesday-27-september-20110927-1kufy.html

...Cats coach Chris Scott said Johnson had improved since sustaining his injury but he wouldn't be tested until Friday.
"We’d love to have Stevie somewhere near 100 per cent but, if he’s not, we’ll bring guys in that are 100 per cent," Scott said after training.

The first-year Geelong boss said Wojcinski would be fine.

"He’s just got a little bit of a sore achilles, calf, but this is not a session where we traditionally have everyone out here. He’ll be out there tomorrow night, there’s no problem with him," Scott said...

Good stuff!

Re: Wojo injured?

The mInd games begin.... I got a feeling at most there will be one change per side at worst. The rest is just Scott and malthouse tickling each other with very long feathers

I had to laugh at Malthouse last night when they were interviewing the two coaches having his "subtle" digs and mind games.

I dont think he will get much of a bite back from Scotty, Geelong are just playing it nice and quiet in respect to the injuires.
And really, whats the point in making a decision now?
I fully expect the same from the Pies about Jolly - he will be a late withdrawal if he misses.

Re: Wojo injured?

He'll be right. His pace for us is absolutely crucial. T Hunt is the only person who could come close to replacing him, and he'd be severely underdone considering the VFL team didn't make the finals. Byrnesy has the pace, but he's a different type of player.

No one else has played for a month and thus wouldn't be 100% themselves so that is the big dilemma. If Menzel hadn't have been injured I wouldn't have played Johnson but bringing in someone "cold" is an issue, even if it is the experience of Milburn.

Wojo did look sore at several times during the game on Saturday if u watch closely. Including wincing when he was getting a rub on the achilles/calf area on the bench. Given that he has had on-going issues with it oiver the last couple of years its a slight worry. That being said, its only Tuesday, he has plenty of time to get a bit of soreness fixed up.

It's been an on going issue he's managed all year. Would expect him to be fine to play and 100%. It's one of those injuries that I think you can work through but might have him laid up for a week of overdone.

They were managing his achilles last year too, it's clearly a long term issue like Ottens knee, not a fresh injury, so we really shouldn't worry about him not playing, he will, they're just managing his loads as is common at this time of year.

saw him stretching at half back in the third on the week end. was a bit proppy, stretched then ran off and played out the game.
You wouldnt think it was a major issue if he played out the game when we were comfortably in front.

Its nothing to do with his achilles or calf ...... its hamstring tightness and he was given a light session away from the main group.

Go back and watch the 2nd half of the Prelim Final, he was troubled by hamstring tightness and was clearly evident from the vision and was attended to more than once by medical staff. Was clearly grabbing the back of his leg ..... the last time I checked that was nowhere near the achilles or calf ????????? He was cramping up regularly in the last quarter. I noticed after he kicked the long goal from outside 50m at the Ponsford end he was shaking out some tightness.

The word is he'll be right and have a very light week on the track but has already been told he's got to train and get through the main session or he won't be considered.
