Former West Coast Eagle David Haynes has been delisted from the Geelong list.

Is there anyone who can let me know why? He was a handy player for us at West Coast, not a champion, but played some good games for us.

Is it injury or just no longer needed?

I had a lot of time for Haynes as well - strong on the lead and a thumping kick...

Didn't get much of a chance with the Cats which is unfortunate.

The Cats played him out of position. He is an undersized FF, a bit like Scott Welsh. Problem is Welsh can actually take a contested mark while Haynes couldn't take one to save his life.

Would we be interested with a late pick or would that be useless?

IO doubt if he would come back here sinepari, I think he left because he was homesick and wanted to play for a Vic team.

No chance in hell of David Haynes ever returning west simply because he is a sell-out

Re: David Haynes

Too many of his type around the club (mid-sized forwards).

Great set of hands, but kicking is woeful on occasions. Fairly unlucky considering:

a) the likely quality of youngsters to be drafted as replacements
b) the other 'competition' he was up against when being delisted (think along the lines of McCarthy etc)

My memory was that he had a pretty good kick - especially set-shot.

Suffered from playing at a team that had other ********ty players like him who were more enigmatic (ie Kent Kingsley)

I liked haynes. He filled in at FF and locked the ball in. Now Q does this but gardy doesn't and it's important.

But I'd take Haynesy back on a performance contract if we had room.

good luck to him, anyhow

You would have to think A Edwards would be elevated of the rookie list rather than re drafting Haynes if that was the type of player WCE are looking for

Also, from memory Haynes disposal was actually quite poor although he did have a long kick.

He is also a Geelong boy so i doubt he would move again anyway

Agreed, he was always a HFF or HBF player but was played as a kpp which he did well at for a pinch hitter.

I like AE great overhead mark and hard to match up on.
