just heard the same thing.
i remember on the night the mmm call made mention of a whack to the face that he gave on a richmond player when he was on the deck fight for a ball, but they said it wasn't suspendable & it was accidental contact. if this is the incident then, it's a blight on the game.

Apparently it's for striking Reece Conca... Which was supposedly what Leigh Brown was reported for.
Meanwhile, there's no mention of Leigh Brown, who actually was reported for striking Reece Conca - I think it's a case of mistaken identity.
The Herald Sun website actually incorrectly names Dawes as the player reported for striking Conca on Friday night, which definitely was Brown and not Dawes, so there's definitely a mistake being made.

Does anyone know the time of the game the incident occurred?
I'm hoping we challenge it, from what I have heard it is very similar to the Dale Thomas prelim final hit, a hit in which he received no penalty whatsoever.
If he doesn't play, who replaces him?
Do we go with Wood, Leeroy and Jolly, or just the 2 of them and MaCaffer as the 2nd tall option up forward?

It was when they were on the ground at the HFF flank, punt road end, southern stand side.
The Dawes incident with more of an arm to the head when he was reaching in for the ball. Should challenge and he'll get off.
Leigh Brown's charge got thrown out.

yeah that surprised me too. Leroy, with a poor record makes sense, not Dawes though. He's never been suspend, maybe reprimanded but even that i'm not 100% sure on.

There's one Twitter post that spawned all of this from the AFL's media manager Patrick Keane, and he makes no mention of Leigh Brown, who was definitely reported.
It's pretty likely a mistake, and it's Leigh Brown that has been reported.

80 points + 93.75 carry over points = 173.75 points and 1 week
early plea less 25% = just over 130points and 1 week
If Dawes had a clean record it would have been 60points with an early plea and a reprimand.

WTF? Even if it is Brown they would have to be joking. If that turns out to be true then it's official, the AFL is now playing under netball rules.

It normally comes out (officially) at 4-ish, SEN cover it hot off the presses but these whispers are normally right.
Can only recall one mistake when they confused the records of the two McKenzies IIRC last year, it's probably 'right' (inb4 'do they ever get it right?')

Macaffer can play FF if needed, very good mark for his size and was FF in VFL team for a while early in his career.

So let me get this right, Dawes gets one week for a low impact, unintentional hit to the head, while Campbell Brown gets 2 weeks for a deliberate elbow to the head.
