DE BOER'S kicking for goal

I agree! Lets keep playing DeBoer in the AFL until his kicking improves! Who cares if he costs our team a few wins or not because he misses set shots... as long as he is trying to improve! Let us get behind him.
Number one on the ground in contested possessions on the weekend. Second in score assists after Hayden Ballantyne. If you can't see his value in the forward line, especially the way in which Freo play footy at the moment, then you are a moron, Memories.

Of course he can't see his value, he'd rather 2 Sandilands and 16 Pav's running around the park with 99% DE... anything else is not acceptable!!!

I know Clay has stated it somewhat, but goal assists:

Balla - 6
DeBoer - 4
Suban/Mundy -3
Haze -2
Nobody else more than 1 (yes, I know Pav and Fyfe kicked their share by themselves)

I know where you are coming from Memories, but if he is producing those goal assist numbers (granted that might be out of the box this particular game, not sure) ... even if he misses his own shots then the GA makes up for it. I could not watch the game due to my location, but it looks to be DeBoer's best game for the year??

People forget DeBoer was an absolute ball magnet as a junior ... he has had low possession counts because of his role and questionable disposal (which fed his role), but if he starts to improve his disposal to an acceptable (though not brilliant) level ... then DeBoer becomes another genuine midfield rotation option. Or keep him forward and lock the ball in.

Schammer could easily, easily, play DeBoers role and his kicking, as bad as it is, is better than DudBoers.

In a team that is now kicking at a high efficiency level he is completely out of place with his lack of penetration and lack of accuracy. Other teams will quickly catch onto the fact this guy can't kick and will simply let him loose in the forward 50 to grab mark after mark so he can stuff it up. North Melbourne appeared to do this.

Alfonz the reason he has high goal assists is because he NM players weren't defending him most of the time in the F50 leaving him free to get marks. Then after his 2 massive failures early on he kept passing it off. I'd rather have someone play a defensive forward role that can actually kick the ball more than 40m and with a fair amount of accuracy.

There is not much I like about what DeBoer has shown, though he seems a decent mark and is fairly good with pressure. But he isn't in our best 30 so not sure why he is getting a game when there are better players.

So teams will start letting DeBoer have mark after mark uncontested in our forward 50 even though once he marks it he passes it off for goal assist after goal assist?

That sounds like a brilliant coaching strategy that couldn't possibly backfire. You've got my vote for 2020 or whenever it is you're planning to lower yourself to the pleb level of AFL coach.

Nah, Schammer couldn't play that role. Too short, no pace.

Not to mention, Schammer is not going to hit you with a tackle that will make you regret turning up to the game De Boer is excellent in this area and his opponents will certainly realize that they are in for a very tough day when he stands next to you.

By the way Memories, why such a hater? Surely you must be thrilled with how the team is going. This is seriously, the best we have ever played. Forward line pressure has been an essential element to these wins.

Balla, Mayne and De Boer make life miserable for opponent backmen with their ball smarts and tackling pressure. I especially loved Balla's 'Peek a Boo' tackle from behind the goalpost. This years best!

Got any defensive forwards in mind that actually create turnovers the way that De Boer already does? Balla and Mayne are already there. They are excellent. Any other suggestions? You going to pull out the old Murphy line Memories because he is an excellent kick? No? Thought not.

By the way Memories, it appears that you know more about winning than our entire coaching pannel saying that De Boer is not in our best 30. I would LOVE to have that sort of depth! Can you actually tell me your best 30 Memories. I am curious.

That would be a thread in itself!

Nah, I don't think he does. Who would? Did they ever play?

Would be like asking someone the difference between Toia and Callaghan.

Everyone. Yes.

I'd be pretty confident that most of our supporters could tell the difference between all four. Chin up, maybe it was just a bad day.

Not sure whether this has been mentioned but De Boer actually tried to do some goal-kicking practice at half-time against the Kangaroos. He didnt start the warm-up with the main group but instead practiced set shots at the Subi end.

Unfortunately, the Subi end is where the Auskickers get their photo taken, and there was a lot of kids around the goal area. He was reluctant to kick where they were standing and in the end only got one kick off (despite standing there for around 2 minutes) before joining the main group.

Seemed to me that he was really keen to improve his goal kicking which can only be a good thing

Lol, to tell the truth, I hear enough mindless chatter from the missus, it can all get a bit too much when you have to hear it on the internet too...

At least in real life i can give my missus a back hander :D
