A good innings but still surprised. Hadn't realised he had been ill and he looked pretty vibrant last time I saw him interviewed. Typecast as Spock but it certainly made him a cult hero.

RIP Mr Spock... AKA Leonard Nimoy.

83 years young. Started out as either cowboy characters or lawmen and then got typecast as Mr Spock in Star Trek.

He was definitely one of my favourite actors.

Deliberately shot himself in the head 3 years ago but survived. He was due to have toes amputated due to diabetes and didn't want to face it.

I hope he has some peace.

Such a sad story. Remember first hearing he shot himself, then they released the 911 call after he'd shot himself. Horrible. Definitely hope he's in a better place now that's for sure.

A role in Basic Instinct, Super Troopers, Silence of the Lambs and many others.

Looking at his bio, he played a disproportionate amount of cops, judges, military types. Obviously had that square jawed authority look about him. I remember him, but not sure from which one exactly, and he always seemed to play an arsehole character.
