just heard the news that former saints footballer dean 'tractor' greig severely injured his foot playing for scoresby a couple of weeks ago. the injury is so bad that he is having it amputated on friday and is still planning to coach his side on the saturday.

now that's being tough.

will always remember tractor in a huge game against collingwood a few years ago. crowd was over 85000, it was a lockout and his parents couldn't get into the game, he had about 40 touches for the day and was easily b.o.g, but more importantly the saints got up and won by that magical margin 1 point. brilliant game.

walked to the cricketers after the game yelling at the tops of our voices 'whats better than beating collingwood by 100 points'. :D

Very sad news.

Hope he sues the first hospital for a heap of cash.

He was a good tough midfielder for the saints. In fact, many saints supporters think that the 1991/92 St Kilda teams were better than the 1997 team and he was an important player of that time.

Agree, total tank (well nicked) of a player. I heard though that there was still a chance of saving his foot/leg through a graft of muscle from his stomach? I hope that turns out to be the case for him, whatever happens though, good luck to him for his future.

That's very sad news, he has been doing well at Scoresby and they looked like beating the Vermont-East Burwood duopoly in the EFL with Dean as Captain/Coach.

I hope that he is able to recover and I wish him all the luck in the future.

That is really tragic news.

Break a leg playing footy and then it becomes infected so the options are a lot of surgery for the next 2 years (and no guarantee of sucess) or amputation:(

Good luck to him and his family.
