Just listening to SEN in the aftermath of the Kangaroos/Swans games...

Lots of North supporters calling in and saying they don't rate Laidley as a coach.

Food for thought, re. the knee-jerk views of many on here about Terry.

Because, surely, if anyone coaching in the AFL has some credentials, I reckon Laidley would be up there, with what he's done over the past few years, with what he's had, both in terms of cattle, and cash.

Hmm... interesting.
I dont think that Laidley would be replaced.. but in the event that he is i certainly wouldnt mind giving him a shot.

Terry had nothing to start with i can accept, but he has finished his 4th year out of his 5 and we still look a long way off being a serious finals contender and not there to be someones biatch.

The main point I was trying to make is this: most outsiders are impressed with Laidley, and what he has done with what he has had.

And yet, there are rabid Kangaroo fans baying for his blood, because they lost a final, after years of decent achievement.

Terry inherited a trainwreck... I don't remember who posted it, but there was a thread on here, possibly written years ago, entitled "From Possum Shit to Premiership" - a beautiful title that really stuck in my head. It neatly encapsulates where we have come from, and where we hope to go. I reckon we are now half way there.

Yet, just like the rabid Kangaroo fans who want Laidley out, there are rabid Tiger fans who want Wallace gone.

In both cases, it seems to me, this reaction reeks of near insanity.

Interesting point but i couldn't see laidley coaching anywhere else in my oppinion and even if he did i don't think he'd be any good. Reason being that he is a north melbourne man!

The reason he does so well is because of how committed he is to that club and how much he loves north.

I don't think he'd have that same passion at any other club and so therefore he wouldn't be a good coach anywhere else

The only difference you forgot to point out is that Laidley has more passion in his big toe than TW does in his whole body. And that alone gets North Melbourne teams over the line often more times than not. Planning and passion at North. Terry only instills planning in his sides. That way he approaches our team like a Funeral Director with a love of Basketball.

Thank God TW will be judge on results next year. Not bs.
If Terry gets to coach past next season he'll need to get us to the Finals.

Laidley's teams have been making the Finals.
The North supporters that are unhappy with Laidley want better because they want to achieve and see the side progress further.

So Hognogger.....don't try too hard to find similarities between Laidley and Wallace.
Those unhappy North supporters want to see the team get better and better.
Go visit the North board.......their supporters think this year is a step backwards for their team. Has North gone backwards?

I'm not happy with 9th at Richmond. And I'll be less happy if we don't make the 8 next year.
We can't sit on our hands forever, just like the North supporters today.

Good post. I agree.

Wallace >>>>>>>>> Laidley as simple as that

When it comes to coaching elsewhere doesn't it all come down to the dollar and not your loyallties of where you played your football.
So in saying that I can see him going to coach else where.
If he was given the sack I know that there is a job over at the Drug Coast Eagles.

I've never rated Laidley. Bonehead coaching decisions, bonehead comments but has a very strong personality which will shoot down anyone who questions him. Much like Terry.

i find that quite remarkable

as far as getting maximum output with the talent a coach has ... i reckon Laidley is right up there .

your point is a good one Hoggy

Don`t worry ... everyone at Richmond from the Prez down to the bootstudder ... and the whole supporter base , and most importantly the coach ... all know that anything less than a finals appearence next year can be viewed as nothing else but an abject failure ..

This aint front page news ... this is what i actually find exciting about next year
