I have a question, what about if he gets traded?

If Kobe gets traded, then the Lakers will be in for some rough times, won't change the team that I support.

EDIT - If you were referring to the best player comment, nothing changes. He is far and away the best player in the NBA right now. I honestly don't think its even close.

People who call out his D - Look who got the #1 player every night when team USA played. Kobe. Simply put, he can spend more energy on D when he doesn't have to carry an entire franchise on his back due to playing with below par teammates. As for his selfishness, its the same, if his team mates could actually contribute I am sure you would see more assists/better defensive numbers and less scoring.

ive gone through the whole thread and not one yet so i guess im the only one.

Twolves fan.

Started following them back in 1990 when we were terrible and had quads like Breuer and Pooh Richardson et al. Then JR and Laettner arrived and it only got worse. 17 years later and we are still terrible.

favourite player had to be the googs, big tom gugliotta.

Oh well at least we have big Jeff now!

reckon the wolves have a big trade in the offing but surely there arent any more celtic players to pick up???

Yeah just on this year you basically swapped Ricky Davis for Antoine Walker but get a first rounder down the track.

Its looking really bad, like worse than Cleveland 2002-2003 bad.

Sorry wasnt calling you on that.

I was asking how it would chage your view of Kobe if he was traded considering you are a one-eyed Laker.

If he were traded to a team with a good supporting cast, you'd probably change your tune on who the best player in the league is. :D

Duncan is probably the only one that comes close on both sides of the floor and he doesn't play anywhere near the minutes Kobe does and has a much greater team around him. Garnett is close, but he is not as good as he was a few years ago. Nash isn't even in the equation regardless of MVP titles, dude is a complete defensive liability. LBJ will probably get there, but not yet.

imo.. Kobe > Duncan > Garnett > LBJ >>>> Nash.

As you for clowns who doubt the credibility of Nash, then you are a joke. He is the best point guard by a street and can do it all. You people say he doesn't play defence....I have seen him take a million charges....he is the smartest player the game has seen.

Suns and Saints in 2008.....get on it now!!!!!

He is a great point guard, and he definately makes the players around him good, but you obviously are wearing very rose coloured glasses or totally blind if you think that Nash plays good defense. You've seen him take a million charges? So what. That does not make a good defensive player. You've probably missed the hundreds of times his opponent has blown by him or elavated over him and got an easy j because he plays weak defense.
Just how many 1st all defensive teams has Steve Nash made so far in his career?

Nash is a sucky defender, but he tries hard on defense.

Kobe might have been a great defender once upon a time, but his inclusion on the 1st All-Defensive team last year was a joke. He clearly conserves energy on the defensive end, and even when he tries to lock down these days, the results are mixed (see Arenas' 60 pt game for example). I'm a big Kobe fan, but his best defensive days are behind him.

He pretty much took the teams #1 player for team USA and he is pretty much close to his prime. Is more about conserving energy with the Lakers, like you said.

Look into Nene's posterizing size:
Start of 2006-07 Season (125 kg)

End of 06-07 (111 kg)

Yep, i think it might be a good year to get into more fantasy ball and ignore the reality of the season....

I doubt that 'toine will ever suit up for the wolves. Maybe only for games we play in Florida.

Celtics fan since 92 - Just when the rot started to set in and before unbelievablely bad trades became the norm.

Still have my Dee Brown #7 top.:thumbsu:

How many point guards make 1st all defensive teams anyway? Gary Payton was a freak, but he breaks the mould.

Compare like with like dude.

Nash's defense would be the equal of any point guard in the league.

Shawn Marion should have made a 1st all NBA defensive team...he is far and away a better defender than K Bryant and that is even when Phoenix were struggling.

I don't deny I am a bit biased, but I think calling Steve Nash a defensive liability is a bit rough.

Is a defender an automatic liability when Leandro Barbosa or Devin Harris dance around them with their speed? Wouldn't have thought so.
