Don't get me wrong mate. I am not being a critic of his choice. I would not be a critic of what ever you choose either and if it has come over that way my apologies. I think in the end it is what one expects from learning about life in general. My point is that he shows no better values, be they family or whatever, just because he did not come up to Brisbane. Someone mentioned Sheldon. The kid is obviously keen to experience life outside his own comfort zone. Good for him. Good for Murphy as well. I just do not think that values of any moral kind come into it.

I think we may just have to agree to disagree on some of these points, which is cool. I would debate though that Sheldon did not choose to leave Melbourne....he chose to have a 10/16 shot of staying in Melbourne so that he could play football. The real decision comes if Carlton were going to take him in the F/S last year, would he "select" to not play football in melbourne?

FWIW my family to a lessor degree have been adventurers. My parents twice migrated to Australia. My old man was a 15 year old merchant marine and was later conscripted to the British Army and went around the world. My family consequently relate to going of and getting out there. Hell a 70 year old Aunty has just been up Machu Pichu:thumbsu:. With that in the bloodstream I relate more to Sam and Luey than I do to Murphy.

On that note maybe, me the 19 y/o who still lives at home may relate more to Marc!

You are are also doing a law degree and have a short term future mapped out. How you feel nearer the end of those studies maybe something to think about. You may just get up and fly;).

But you link that to perceived character flaws?
IMO to be successful in any sphere of life, especially sport, you have to be driven and single minded and show no fear of the unknown and the challenging. An ability to transcend the comfort zones and securities of life.
Murphy to me did not demonstrate he possesses these qualities when he made his choice and the reason why he did. We are all different and view the world through our own experiences.

I've flown a little, and certainly plan on flying further...:thumbsu:

And I would be impressed:thumbsu:. There are lots of youngsters working in Europe. Got a couple who contribute to this site who have been there done that and have no regrets. There is also an old git who is planning to head of in a couple of years:cool:.

The moving overseas thing comes highly reccomended by myself.

Look forward to doing it again, hopefully to either Tokyo, Kyoto or Osaka.

Always liked a good knee trembler hey BD? Japan, the earthquake epicentre of the world.

Felt a couple of quakes last time we were there. Weird feeling thats for sure.

This thread will get messy when some illiterate Carltonite shows up and completely misinterprets the thread.
I've seen neither hide nor hair of Andyt30 on BF.

Welcome back Vidman. Did you have a good trip overseas?

thanks daniel still over here, just got the internet for a few days, till we head off to france again. The way the results are going maybe i should stay over here permanently!

As is now floating on the North-Kanga and Carlton boards “discussions” suggesting Marc Murphy wants out.

Interesting that Murphy, despite playing all 22 games, did not finish in the top 10 of their best and fairest.

Was part of their game plan this year.

"Marc has the terrible habit of finding the ball and disposing of it effectively. Avoid giving him the ball at all costs!"

Cain Ackland: 0 votes.

And this was a system where they gave 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 votes each game. That's a possible 594 votes on offer.

They must be loving this decision every day. How that man can take home a cheque at the end of the week and not feel guilty, I will never know.

and do you have the numbers for Dylan McLaren.....

He got zero votes from zero games and has been delisted.
