No doubt in my mind this kid will be special. His attack on the footy and composure under pressure is sensational. His pass to browny in the square after winning a hard ball and twisting around for the pass was right in front of me and left me in awe. Can't wait to see him develop. All class.

Not often a 17yo can step into a team and look like he's played with them all his life. Remarkable the poise he is showing after only 4 games, the one handed pick up in the 2nd 1/4 was fantastic.

Happy 18th to the lad.

A kid who can pick up 50 odd touches with limited game time/playing forward pocket in 4 games along with 20 marks with such class and composed and attack on the pill is something pretty special at Tigerland.

Has leadership qualities written all over him. Makes some of our experienced players look ordinary. And has a number befitting his ability too I might add.
Will be a 200 game plus player and captain after coglan.

Has a great set of hands, has held plenty of marks under pressure which is a great sign.

I remember during the Doggies game he was directing Tiv and I think Jackson where to go at a stopage on the wing.

I was watching Richo, a week or 2 ago on 'on the couch' or something similar. He was asked who would be Richmond next captain.

Richo replyed he expected Johnson to be there for at least 3/4 years. They then though up Cogs name and the reply was "Yep, Cogs or young Breet Deledio"

They were shocked :)

Beuitful mark.

At 18 he's only going to grow some more so 6ft 5 is withing reach. He's about 6ft 2-3 now I believe.

Exciting stuff. Is a Voss clone this kid.

voss crossed with hird. he is going to be special. dont be surprised if he ends up at centre half forward with spurts on the ball.

I want him in the guts DT. Too much class to be stuck on the forward line. He can play any position I reckon. Has the smarts.

he has got the strength of hands of Hird but definitely has the takeoff of Judd. Once he gets more confidence to take on players, he will be unstoppable.

I would be really interested to see how his pace over 10 metres compares with the other road runners of the comp. I doubt there would be more than a handfull of players in the whole league that could match his take off.

His time will come, I reckon TW is bringing him on nicely. Putting him in the middle right now would be good for his development, but probably not the best thing for the team at the minute. After a few more games he will be really settled into playing afl and be ready to start playing on the ball a bit.

I still have to rub my eyes every now and again to make sure I'm not seeing things and that a talented 17 year old is wearing Richmond colors.

Looks like we have many enjoyable years ahead watching a midfield of Coughlan Deledio andTambling

i reckon it will depend on team structure. mark my words he will be capable of dominating in the hardest position on the ground (ie chf) and if we dont have someone else who can play that spot as well (after richo is gone) he will spend a lot of time there. would love it if he could play on ball, but if we dont have a dominant chf then i can see deledio playing there. i really think he will be given licence to choose where he plays, a la james hird, if we are dominating the centre, he will go forward, if we are not he will go into the centre so that we turn things around. really i dont really care either way the guy can play anywhere. nothing wrong with class in the forward line iitb, as long as we have class in the guts as well (ie coughlan, jackson, tambling et al)

too right

i dont think its been mentioned, but iremember in the doggies games he got borked by murphy who was streaming forward beautifully like he does and lids turned, chased and ran him down just as he was abt to pull the trigger from 50, that was awesome to see. seems to be growing in confidence week by week

Has James Hird written all over him.Take a good look at how Hird marks and then have a look at Lids let alone the same physical features as Hird.

Very happy with the way he is being developed, playing most of his time up forward. No need to put him in the middle this early in his career and have him get smashed around.

Loved the play you were talking about IITB and also loved in the last term where backed himself and got by Bell and then began to run away from him.

Sorry I just had to laugh at this.....Dont mind me

But anyway Lids' has enormous potential to be anything.

He chases like a white version of Aaron Davey, he marks like a young Voss, he has the vision and skill of a young Buckley, he has pace to match the likes of Judd and to me he has 'match-winner' stamped all over him.

The best thing about it, he is none of them. He is Brett Deledio for the Richmond Tigers!!

Im just dying to see Tambling :p

I am thinking more Chris Judd.

its funny how most people are overlooking his height and his strength in marking. you are right eb, but he will be taller than james hird, and none of the players you mentioned can take a contested mark like him. if he can reach his full potential we will not be likening him to anyone, he is the most complete package that i for one have ever seen.
