Super confident. Always takes on the opposition and goes for a run every now and then. The comparitiveness (I think that's a word) to Judd is just amazing. Still at 18, he isn't able to run out a full game but in every game he improves.

Will he be the Round 7 NAB Rising Star?

Hope not. Let's keep the lid on him (excuse the pun).

The Rising Star thing is the most over-rated award in footy. What is it - $10,000? - for the eventual winner. A relative pittance for the huge achievement of being the best young player in the comp over an entire season.

Let's keep the secret of Deledio to ourselves for the time being.

What I like about this kid is that even though he makes a few mistakes while getting into the tempo of senior footy, he'll still back himself in the very next time he goes for it. Good to have that type of confidence in himself.

Won't be too long! He went for a few gallops with the ball today...

1. Got pinged for running too far! OK, he did run 30mtrs without a bounce but he did leave Andrew Walker in his wake with a blistering surge
2. Got pinged for dropping the ball when being tackled and bouncing at the same time (this is the rule brought in for KB for all those too young to remember)
3. Ran too far into attack and had the ball touched off the boot.

There are a few lessons for the boy and once he adjusts... look out!

On current projections... this will be next week!

yep he'll learn from it...

boy it was exciting watching him go for a dash thru the guts taking opponents on at every chance, its obvious hes getting more and more comfortable and today was his best game clearly, 1st half was blistering, i was very impressed, tapered off in the 2nd with some bench time. Also did a magnificanet spin and baulk on the left flank going to the old ponsford stand end... Took a fantastic 1 grb mark on defensive 50 against 2 opponents, wen a spill wouldve let them in for an easy goal after hall i think picked the wrong option.
Id say he may very well get the rising star nomination this week but yeh who cares, more important things to focus on..

Good game again now if he does not get the Rising Star for Round 7 I will be upset  .
Surely its time to give it to him. Now as for Judd in the footy record Deledio says " What or WHo is your Greatest Inspiration answer Judd" .
Now I have not seen Judd play when he was 18 i dont think. But I would find it interesting to see who was the better of the 2 when Judd was 18. People other club fans can say that Deledio could not run down judd etc but 1 thing i know is he would give anything a bloody go :)

Well done :)

Judd came top 3 BnF in a pretty strong West Coast team.

I wouldn't worry too much if he doesn't get a rising star this week, because he will get one before the seasons out. And in some ways I'd like it to be in a game he has torn apart.

Absolutely stoked we have this lad. Don't like the comparison to Judd simply because Lids is going to be himself. Whether he plays a similar role to Judd or not, he's not the Tiges version of anyone, he's our Lids. Will be a gun.

Agree. What I have found impressive is how he is building. Over the past 3 weeks its a bit better every week. I think Tambling and Meyer are too and its fantastic how we can have that going on at a pace that everyone is comfortable with and we STILL win games! At this rate in 4-5 weeks we will have at least these 3 with considerable experience and soon against some high quality opposition and in "big games". All an invaluable learningcurve. We just also have to brace ourselves for when they stumble , as they will, and bear with them as they go back to the Magoos ten re-appear etc etc. Augurs well for the building of "the Wallace Dynasty" for the next 4-5 years.

That's right Roo. These kids have only a handful of games under their belt. They will stumble. Consistency will start to come in when they've had 50-75 games under their belts, much in the same way Geelong has now. A couple of early losses to show how far off the gun sides will be good for the young tackers, just gives them the opportunity to see where they're expected to aim for over the next couple of years.

Of all our kids though, you can see why Lids was taken at No 1 in the draft. Just a natural talent and already playing above someone who has just turned 18.
