Because half the time there is no one running to space or even leading and there are a bunch of statues in front of him. Other times he is now getting more contested ball so we see more handballs.

Dont worry he will learn to be more damaging with his kicking prowess but as much of our team has to do he must keep working hard.

this is where we must give credit to tambling

he may not get the ball as much as lids but thats because he fights under more packs and cops more bruises, and at least tambling takes players on with his pace to try and break the game open, deledio plays scared and it shows...........imo deledio does not like to get dirty and also fears being beaten
 
Bloodiedtiger, you do realise there is such a thing as an outside player? I can't stand it when people think a player is shit or soft because they don't win their own ball. Lids is an outside players, which is what he should be, where someone can feed him the ball and he can utilize his kick. Hopefully he begins to do this more as he gets older.

all players who play inside can play outside fullstop

look at ablett, bartell, black, judd, kerr , cornes etc all can play inside and out

stop making excuses for deledio.

in his 1st yr, selwood showed how its done, cotchin is following suit


dont give me this shit about outside players, its football , a contested game, all players should be hardened . using the term outside player is an excuse to justify weak soft pussy biatches.

tiv mcmahon are 2 outside players, so u want deledio to be an outside player

watch the replay from the game yesterday, deledio many times could have used his pace to run off and attck, or run hard to tackle
he does not want to work hard

deledio better change his attitude or his career will be one of wasted talent

if u cant play hard footy you wont get a game for geelong, hawthorn, brisbane, sydney , collingwood etc

being hard at the ball and contest for your team and teammates should be non negotiables as they are at brisbane

its time supporters and the rfc should make that the no1 rule for all players, be hard or ____ off
 
You just proved my point further really. Just because he doesn't win contested ball as much as others, doesn't make him a hack. Look at Dal Santo, he is a good player. I know you'll just rebut this with 'nah he's a soft ____, no good at football', but he is a good player. His main problem is that he virtually never wins his own ball. Lids doesn't never win it. More often than not, he's playing a receiving role, but he still gets the ball himself sometimes.

As for him not working, that's bullshit. Someone mentioned on this board from memory a few weeks back that it's almost his skill and class that cause people to give him this lazy tag. He is so talented and classy that he just makes everything look easy, and some people I believe incorrectly construe this to mean he is lazy.
 
Its crap to call him an outside player. There is no doubt he can win hard ball one on one and he just needs to add to his game clearances. He also needs to be taught how to do a shimmy. He uses speed to beat players but sidesteping isnt all that flash.

Look he is becoming a very good midfielder lets not crap on about a guy who has been in our top 2 players for the year.

Maybe he's scared coz i remember he used to get in and under then last year Vs the roos he has he wrist broken, maybe he's scared because of that.

All credit to lids, i love him, but he needs to get in and under or he will be known as a weak outside player, like tivs and pettifer and he doesn't want that so early in he's career.

On what do you base this dribble
Yesterday he had
5 contested possessions 8 bounces 6 inside 50s and 2 clearances
last week when we got smashed he had
10 contested possessions 5 bounces 8 inside 50s and 4 clearances
Lids averages CP 7.4, B 3.1, I50s 4.3, and C 2
Tambling averages CP 5.6, B 1.2, I50s 3, and C 3

If the B&F was counted today he would probably come second to Richo.
Give the guy a break.

tambling has far less game time than deledio

did u see deledio bounce the ball every 3 steps yesterday, those running bounces like foleys . every 3 paces mean squat

deledio yesterday bounced the ball rodan style , sideways and never broke the lines

stats often lie! watch the game

if tambling was looked after by wallet the same way as deledio, tambling would have overtaken him by now

and about the b and f, deledio wont win it, wont even come 2nd, unless he changes his ways

Deledio has been is good form since moving out of FF, very underated and given no respect here despite the glaring stat diff. divert some of tambo love to him, he needs more loving!:D
 
maybe its a case of "well no one else really puts in, others get games etc when they shouldnt - so why should i kill myself ?"

you dropped players & the kids played with heart, you bring back those that are not ever going to be anything & it all falls apart.

seems quite simple, why not coast thru if others can get away with it ?

tiges need to broom out those who arent prepared to set a standard that will gain respect from other clubs.

wins will come as long as everyone playing is prepared to spill blood for one another. whilst players like mcmahon can get games whilst showing no heart for the club you'll never get that killer instinct that you once had back.

Walls didn't abuse him he simply stated the obvious that he needs to start gut running. Deledio by far has the most potential on our list, he can be the complete footballer, however, I think he lacks the work ethic on the ground. He may be a great on the track, however, it counts for nothing if he doesn't do it on game day! There is no such thing as an outside player! Champions win there own footy! It is now time for deledio to realise that he can mix it with the mature guys of the AFL, lets not forget he isn't that young anymore when you think of Judd who won a Brownlow at the age of 21. Maybe my earlier post was abit harsh, however, it is now time for many of the richmonds "youngsters" to realise that their club needs them to mature and lead. They won't stay young forever and it is now or never!

Ah, there it is, the old "Selwood is a gun" call when comparing our young blokes. Might have been nice for Deledio to play in a dominating team where he would have been the 6th or 7th midfielder. Selwood is terrific. So is Deledio. But it sure helps when you play for a team full of tanks. Can't believe we are even having this discussion. Buckley and Bradley, were blokes who made their name from receiving and using the ball well.
