Well we will have to agree to disagree, but the for mine the Cousins and Cotchin imposed themselves more then anyone else when the game was in the balance last week.
Compare Cousins and Lids when they don't have the ball and thats what makes the difference.
As for Ablett blind freddie knew he was going to be elite and I'll give you an inside tip so will Rich, did you notice his efforts and ability to read the state of play when the game was in balance against Carlton,last quarter, although they didn't win he was very good.

Certainly have to agree with you here. He has an old head on young shoulders this man and is going to be a superstar. He just knows what to do in every situation and looks to have leadership potential just through how he plays and holds himself.

Why should he be rested, maybe dropped , but is one of the few that hasn't had injury concerns this season and is in the prime of his life.

Someone(coach) needs to remind him he has as much of a job to do as any other player. Dropping him to the two's for a couple if games can only help.

He needs to watch some tapes on how Ablett copes with tags.

He won the army award like two years ago. Isn't that the award for the most hard at the ball unnafraid of big hits. That's gotta count for something.
However I think Lids just doesn't care enough anymore. It seems as if he knows Richmond suck and the longer he's there for, the more he's ruining his career. I keep in contact with one of my high school teachers who know's a few people involved in the AFL. I have no idea how he hears this stuff, but the guys not a lier. He told me that Lids told a few of his mates that he knew any other team would "snap him up". u know how it goes: friends tell friend, who tell friends, who tell friends, who tell a journo.
I love Lids. He's always been my favourite player. But it hurts when such a young talent, who has the potential to be one of the greatest, just feels like he's too good for the team.

Sorry, I don't buy that story. He has stated that he wants to stay at the club and is currently in talks with Richmond to have his contract renewed.

One of my favourite players BUT
Last night especially in the third quarter he showed no respect for this opponent or his teamates.
He was very selfish and thought he was too good for Picken and refused to man him up.

I was at the game and me and a friend were disgusted with his application in defence constantly playing 15 meters away from Picken and didnt want to get near the contest.

After Picken kicked his first goal BRad Johonson went up to Lids and gave him an earful. I thought this was great but I also thought surely this would have to fire the young man up and exert some prescence.

How wrong I was, Lids continued to play off Picken and sure enough Brad Johnson next kick hit Picken on the chest 30 meters from goal and Lids was no where to be seen. Picken kicked the goal and Johnson and 3 others went to Delediio and got in his face and let him know.

Lyon showed a breakdown of a defensive matchup and McMahon basically hung him out to dry. Thomas agreed 100%. I was digusted with Lids after seeing Picken kick a couple and thought the same as you, but after seeing it from this perspective I think as a supporter group we need to lay off him. I've noticed he's in the gun with more and more supporters which is really dissapointing.

In the last month or so i have seen Deledio complete more 1% then I've ever seen before from him. To say that he doesn't try is laughable. Even if his intention was to leave the club (which i don't think is the case)I don't think he will muck around with form.

I as everyone was, was disappointed with Picken not only wearing Deledio like a glove but kick two pretty simple goals. However, we must look at it from Deledio's perspective. Terry must have laid into him that he must shake the tag and create the play. So you can understand that he wasn't near him as he was trying to get away.

I rate Deledio's kicking especially this year with the top people in the AFL with the likes of Gilbee and Dew. It's no coincidence that Richmond play their best when Deledio along with some others are getting the ball. NOT TRADE BAIT!!!!

p.s. not sure about the decision to let Mcmahon man up Picken. What was Deledio thinking.

Not his best night last night. Carrying an injury (physical or mental)?

He has been average this year & 13 disposals last night is not good enough for a player approaching 100 games and in his 5th year. He should be leading the midfield group not going missing.

Commentators last night we spot on the mark in questioning his correct place on the field. Just because he is a no1 pick shouldn't make him an automatic midfielder.

2008 he won a B&F averaged 24 disposals over 22 games.

Development at the club has been weak for many years now. Hopefully this problem will NOW be urgently rectified! Hoping it's not too late for Lids.

at the game on friday i thoguht that picken was on deledio... which he was... so why did lids take him down to full forward and make him play as a forward and lids a defender... if lids had of been smart he would have taken him to the wing orour forward line

that is not what a football team does. they do not trade players because they will be a gun at another team. they need to look after themeselves. and by keeping lids will help us when we come good, possibly soon as next year.
