A few weeks ago there were a few posts raising questions about not only Deledio's leadership aspirations but also whether he may jump ship and look for personal success elsewhere if the Tiges don't lift there game soon. From the outset, i think it did have the potential to be worrying as there is no doubt he is quality.

However due to recent events (Army Award and JDM), he has not been as introverted as usual and hearing him speak, i liked what i heard.

[And the good news for Tigers fans is their gifted 21-year-old has no intention of resting on his laurels saying his next step was to become part of the Tigers' leadership group and to help the team end a finals drought stretching back to 2001.]

"We have got to make finals next year for starters but you can always get better individually and kick more goals and lay more tackles and that is the next aim," he said.

As well as this he is constantly spruiking the other youngsters at the club (Cotch, Conners, Edwards), and it appears they all want to improve together.

It may have been obvious to some, but i find articles such as this quite re-assuring. Lets hop he sticks true to his word and enjoys a LONG career at tigerland.

Act quick Tiges, re-sign Deledio the Cotch (should be our 1st 2 priorities IMO) and our other young guys ASAP and shore up our future!!

Afterall he is still a kid, and if he has achieved this much already, i cannot wait to see what Deledio the CAPTAIN can achieve...

Good work lids, GO TIGERS! :D

Deledio would be worth more than that by now wouldn't he? 400k a year? I guess you're never going to get a lot more than that for a 5 year deal, given the deal's speculative nature, but **** he's good.

Could be a smart idea doing a front loaded contract or two, but all reports suggest the playing group have a unity and tightness to overcome salary cap issues that may arise in the future.
