In a way I agree with chardy. Not about laughing at ex-colleagues (some deserve it, though), but the attitude that we can't bag them because they made it to AFL level.

There are harder things to achieve than a shot at an AFL career, and they get paid a shitload and get that money even if they have a complete stinker of a season.

The supporters keep this game relevant so I think we have a right to critisise as we see fit as long as it's not too personal.
Completely agree.

I can't think of many jobs where you are paid 6 figures a year to try your best and completely fail to make the grade or deliver a return for your company. If people want to criticise him, go ahead.
Completely agree.

Rubbish.

If you had someone in your workplace who wasn't up to scratch you'd sack them then laugh about them at the Xmas party. Footballers should be no different. That's their profession. If they're no good at it time for a change of career. Let's stop building them up like they're sacred. They're not. If anything, they should grow a set and resign/walk away and stop wasting my money.

I never said not to criticise them. Of course they are not immune to critisism and when they play poorly or don't live up to expectations then yeah I think members and fans and anyone else that essentially pays their wages should be able to criticise them. However I just think there's a fine line between logically measured critisism and abuse in my books.

I just can't see how calling someone a "spud" is fair given they wouldn't have even made it close to being a listed player in a professional sporting club without some above average ability to begin with. I disagree that being an elite sports person is like any other career choice. It's not like any normal person could just easily say, hrm, I'm sick of accounting, I'm going to have a career change... I think I'll become a full time elite athlete and get a spot at an AFL club and see how that goes." It's not a normal career that you can easily fall into IMO.

Again, I have no problem with player criticism and no problem if any of you lot disagree with me. I just wanted to emphasise my distaste for the *in best bay 13 voice* "I hate spuddy list clogger, he's just a massive waste of space. Hope he never gets a game again and his life is ruined" way over the top stuff is all (I don't think anyone here is as bad as that but just emphasising my point).

J Ferguson has been delisted , he had a not to bad year in the VFL , 195cm KD
He wouldn't be a key defender at AFL level, if he was we would have found room and retained him (Had three years on our rookie list and unfortunately we didn't have any room to elevate him). More likely to be a running half back but happy to be proved wrong, would be great to see him get a second chance somewhere though.

David Brent would agree with this. In fact so do I.

Well then the feeling would be mutual, because no one wants him here either.

If Pyke did his ACL tomorrow I wouldn't pick Jolly up even if he was willing to accept a rookie contract, just off principle alone. I'd rather play McGlynn in the ruck.

Jolly's cooked anyways so I don't need to worry

suck it jolly, you tosser. just hope he stays out of the media
