Irrespective of trading in order to compete in the national draft we will have to delist 5 players, or 6 if Schwarze is upgraded from rookie, who are they?

Certainties;
Loewe - retired
Plapp

Maybes
Capuano - only if Oliver steps up, with Loewe gone only 2 rucks remain. Ruckman priority in trading or draft.
Davis?
Peckett - on current form has to go on.

Others talked of
Begley- has to have 1 more season
Beetham - as above, IMO both have trade value anyway.
Burke - onfield leadership is vital, sets the example.

So I'd say, Loewe, Plapp, Davis, Capuano.
Need 1-2 more, do we say goodbye to Peckett & Burke? I'd prefer not.

Thoughts

i would be thinking

loewe......retired
burke......who starts the 2003 season at 33
capuano
callaghan....maybe trade value?
plapp
voss......maybe trade value?
davis

Why Voss mate?

We don't have to delist that many players anyway, but Voss has been consistent this year & has put his body on the line so many times this year for the good of the team. You need blokes like that.

Much as I hate to say it Collingwood & Geelong lead the way in showing how to clear away the deadwood and really develop young attacking sides. There are too many older players at St.Kilda whose best is well and truly past them and can no longer move the club forward.

Delist: Burke (2 Knee reconstructions-need I say more), Peckett, Callaghan, Cripps, Capuano, Plapp, Loewe (stayed at least a year too long).

Very much disagree. The thing stopping us from having an attacking side over the last 2 years has been world record injury runs, we don't have much pruning to do at all.

Actually Burke (1X Reconstruction) you need not say more, Peckett has been one of our best players all year & will be kept, Callaghan had a brilliant year last year, this year injury has put him down the pecking order & he will be cut. Cripps? Surely you jest...?

Capuano is gone. Plapp is gone. Loewe is retired, I disagree with your assessment. He has been pivotal in our victories this year, whilst showing the Koschitzke's & Riewoldts of the world how to go about playing their footy.

I don't see the need to change for the sake of it, every club has duds they want to cut, Collingwood & Geelong most definitely included.

Peckett has done enough in recent weeks to save himself.

Both he and Cripps were good enough to be an integral part of the 97 side that almost went all the way.

Doesn't mean they can't be traded, anyone can, but to delist them (and get nothing in return) so you can have a couple more picks in the 70s in the draft is not sensible. Beetham is the same, you wouldn't just delist him.

One certainty is the Fitness Manager. Never has a club encountered so many soft tissue injuries. The biggest ****-up was Aussie's re-tearing of his hamstring in his comeback game. We can't afford to put a foot wrong next year as we positon ourselves for possibly a decade of dominance.

You guys had better get rid of Stewart Leowe if he can be left dazed by a Mick Stevens love-tap. What a joke he is. You guys want to delist a few more if you think you're gonna improve. You've been scrubbers since the fruit tingles beat you in the '97 grand final, and maintaining guys like Peckett, Hudgton, Thompson - you would probably be offended by these guys being named but as I said you've been scrubbers for five years now, and you've been scrubbers for a reason. Then again, having a successful culture at the St Kilda football club has never been a priority. Only being able to handle Malcolm Blight for half a season is testimony to this.

We'd probably have won 36 premierships if we'd played in the VFL or an equivalent competition.

Now if you wouldn't mind, **** off.

Can anyone tell me which players are up for contract renewals this season - I seem to remember Lawrence and Voss only signing for two years when they left the Lions. No coverage in Queensland except listing the Lions (and there are a few of them this year!!)

Can someone give me a summary of what has already occured this year - Loewe retiring, Max re-signing is about all I have heard.

Thanks very much :)
