I know some female Age journalist took umbrage with him attending a black tie function in Melbourne and missing the Gold Coast game.

Maybe that's fair, but I don't know the circumstances of the Melbourne function, so no opinion ventured.

I'll be in the minority here, but he does a reasonable job IMO, so I'll trust his judgement. The AFL's going a lot better than it's competitors, and is widening the gap, despite the occasional roadbumps.

Does Steve Jobs have to be there when they sell the first iPhone 5? No - He just announces it a month beforehand and then retreats to his castle and rolls in a big pile of money.

I can't say I noticed his absence or care.
Maybe, like our mighty flag, he wants to be there to "unfurl" GC at their first home game at Metricon Stadium?

This happens on Saturday 28th May versus Geelong in round 10.

He should have been at the game IMO. The first game for a new team, and he goes to the opening of a refurbished store. What an idiot!

Jobs is there at the launch of new products, a comparison would be if Apple released the iPhone and Jobs was at a basketball game instead.

Obviously the local function was a very very exclusive event. I would suggest that his wife made a very strong appeal to him to attend it.... I dont think a lousy footy match up north competes with an exclusive event with all of Australia's best people..
