Is it at all possible to get rid of Demetriou? No I am not Paul Roos.

But seriously how far does this idiot have to go trying to bad mouth Roos?

Looks like he wants to be in politics. I thought we scrapping the barrel with Gillard and Abbot. All those years of sucking have paid off!

Yeah him weighing in to the debate about Roos running onto the field to help an injured kid wasnt needed, he did say that Roos was welcome to push the agenda of violence in the juniors but he shouldnt have ran onto the field because it can start violence.. I think he was just towing the company line but he should have just shut his fat pie hole altogether.

Isn't this sort of interference incredibly prejudicial ? Just as players and coaches can't explicitly comment on cases before the tribunal, shouldn't the head of the game be prevented from commenting on Roos's case until a verdict has been reached ?

Roos was almost certainly in the wrong by the letter of the rules. And while it is understandable that he would rush on without thinking to assist the injured player, taking the culprit to task was maybe not the best thing to do (albeit something he probably did without thinking too hard).

But I am a bit confused as to why Dimmipoopoo feels the need to comment on a coaching transgression that happened in a local U16 game. Can we expect further comments in the future any time an official in any Aussie Rules game transgresses?

Cant agree with this post enough.

the issue of Roo's being on the ground and Demoetriou's involvement in the matter are two separate issues.

No adult should be on the ground in a junior game, the potential for violence across the board escalates dramatically when adults enter the field of play. Love roos but this occasion he's made an error.

What Demitriou is criticising people for their involvement in junior football with good intention is not needed,.

He was at the National Press Club making a speech called "A Game for the People" as is custom with the National Press Club he was then asked a range of question, this was one question along with many others that were asked from betting in the game to Tasmania getting a team and women in football. So its not as if he decided to comment on this, he was asked to comment by the National Press Club he answered in a way that I think was fine because Roos shouldn't of gone on the ground and he said so but gave him praise for raising the issue of on field violence in junior football.

Roos has used the media to push against violence in Football this week using this matter in the media, so therefore hasn't Roos interfered as well in the other tribunal case before the NSW/ACT AFL that Roos isn't facing?

He is well within his rights to comment about the issue as he was asked the question. He is correct that further violence can arise from non players running onto the ground. Direct your anger elsewhere.

He didn't have a trainor and the kid was knocked out now go away. we can comment on our board about what we want.

pull your head in.

If he was the only trainer/official for the club I think he should be able to enter the field. Speaking/yelling/swearing at the other team/trainers is wrong and could lead to trouble.

In regards to the ruling you'd need to know all the facts and the leagues rules.

He didn't really say anything out of line, he answered a question with the official stance of the league on random people entering the field. Media beat-up, nothing to see here.

Pull my head in eh. I was commenting on someone not on our board telling us what to do !
I am involved with junior footy and all home clubs must provide a trainor on duty. And i will tell you what, if i saw a kid in a bad way i would go out there as well.

He was being polite enough in a discussion, your reply was rude. Our board? We own the board now? Sweet, I vote you off survivor styles, cheers for the PM by the way: in regards to the facts you mentioned. What facts don't I know? I know someone at the ground that day, that much I know.

In regards to the situation, all leagues have different rules. No guarantee's they had a trainer just because your league does.

Right or wrong in regards to entering the arena, Roo's conduct (swearing at the opposition kids allegedly according to my friend) isn't right if true, and could well have inflamed the situation. I guess we wait for the tribunal for the facts to be verified on all sides.

Where I think some are getting it wrong,is that clubs must have someone with a first aid certificate 'in attendance' and that doesnt mean the trainer, Ive often been put down as that guy when attending certain local games and juniors and have just watched from the sidelines.. I wouldnt be surprised if Roos has a certificate himself..

I agree he broke the rules, so does Roos but common sense should prevail.

He was not polite and it is our board, the swans board. I don't go on other boards and tell them what to do, especialy the norf board lol

What if the kid was swallowing his tongue and Roos was the only one to help and saved his life.
The health of the kid is the most important thing here.

I'll quote myself and bold what has become the real contentious issue, the one which Andrew Dimitrou has taken the issue with (when prompted by media questioning). It's also what the review panel will be looking into.

They are young men in a football enviroment, they are not in the church choir..

saying that from what Ive been told he had it under control, he asked the kids from the other team who did it and to the kids credit he owned up, it was being sorted in a coaching/parental manner until the snotty nose runner ran over and tried to be a hero in front of the slightly younger kids by telling Roos to **** off he wasnt allowed on the ground etc, then it got a little heated.
I even dispute the term 'heated', over reaction by all.

I don't disagree, but you can't go swearing/yelling at them none the less.

If what you say is true, it's all a nothing issue and will be resolved quickly.

Bloody hell it's pathetic it got this far even if he did swear at the kid and the trainer :). Then again he has built the profile where muck merchants will be circling if he breaks wind around a footy team.

If only I had a dollar for everytime coaches, opposition coaches, my teamates and opposition players, parents, umpires etc swore at me when playing football. Shit even the mums.

I had it as well, but when adults enter an U16 playing field after a violent incident, swearing at opposition players and trainers surely you can see how that might create a much larger situation.

yeah I can, but he ran on the field to attend an injured player, he didnt rush at anyone it was spur of the moment.. He broke the rules Im not arguing that. The young hero runner who over reacted needs a kick up the arse. He was well within his rights to make a complaint but not verbally attack Roos either.

Vlad is an administrator who is the envy of the other codes - when AFL signed the recent record TV deal the muppets at league unlimited were all like: "if only we had someone like him in charge!"

Frankly, he's well within his rights to comment on this situation and though I rate Roosy, there's no doubt he has stuffed up in this situation and should be rapped over the knuckles for it. Checking on your player is one thing (though going onto the field of play is not a good look for any coach at the junior level, let alone an ex-coach at the very top level), then remonstrating with an opposition player is another. Vlad has to maintain the company line on this else you'd have a lot of d*ckheads at junior footy thinking they could run onto the field at the drop of a hat.

Having said that, the whole thing has been blown out of proportion - Roos has made a mistake, give him the token penalty and move on to more important stuff.

Given what happened the last time Demetriou publicly criticised Roos, get on the East Bulldogs to win the U-16 premiership!!
