IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Perth Football Club Announces Andrew Jarman as Senior Coach.

The Perth Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of SANFL Hall of Fame legend Andrew Jarman as Senior Coach for the next 2 seasons.

Phoenix Demons President Damian Matthews said, “The Perth Football Club is extremely excited to have Andrew Jarman as our Senior Coach. He brings a great track record, an impeccable football brain and real excitement and enthusiasm. “The selection process was an exhaustive one with some quality applicants in the mix. I believe Andrew Jarman is the perfect person to work with our team of people at the Club and help us move towards success in 2009 and beyond.” Matthews said.

42 year old Jarman hardly requires introduction due to a highly successful career as a player and coach and also in the media.

Jarman coached North Adelaide Roosters for five seasons in a successful reign. Before Jarman took over at the Roosters, the team could manage no better than 7th position in the previous five seasons. Jarman lifted the team into the finals in his first year at the helm. Under his guidance the Club played in the next three finals series including the 2007 SANFL grand final. His impressive winning ratio at the Club was 63%.

Andrew’s achievements include · 110 games Adelaide Crows, 1995 runner up club best & fairest
· Adelaide Crows Life Member & Team of the Decade
· 1987 & 1997 Magarey Medallist
· Twice All Australian Selection

Thanks raboyle. Perth's a team that could probably use a high profile coach. Oh yeah, and it's good to see Jars move out of his comfort zone in Adelaide. :p

Thanks raboyle - congrats to Perth. This would be Perth's best signing in decades. Disclaimer: Although I did say this when Magro was appointed coach. :D

Jars has a lot of passion and hopefully will take Perth out of their comfort zone for the first time in a long time. I look forward to a Perth v Swans GF in 2009! :thumbsu::D

Jarman has a wonderful capacity to get the best out of his personel - irrespective of whether they are inexperienced.
At North Adelaide, his positive attitude was infectious - especially among the younger kids, many of whom bloomed under his stewardship.
I remember Perth's glory days of the '60s and '70s and hope they can deliver their supporters a flag in the not-too-distant future.

He's the bomb Perth have needed in the rear for a while, will always be thankful for his time at North because there would not have been a North still existing without people like him there to start it off

Top signing!:thumbsu:

And we've also managed to snare de-listed Essendon player Dean Dick.

I can feel a good season boys.

C'arn Perth!!!!:D:D

Can you tell me if he was sacked or quit as coach in Adelaide and why?

The reason Jars gave at his press conference was that he had to get out of his comfort zone and prove to the AFL world that he was serious about coaching. I guess from that, he wants to coach in the AFL system and is broadening his experience.
