Well Newman or Houli could cover Griggs roll and open up a spot of an arnot or McDonough to play an develop. But by the sounds of it we don't actually have the player to take Griggs spot in the team at the moment.

Newman will finish end of 2014 most likely, Then who covers Houli's role ............. Again your looking at a kid that hasnt done jack S

You see thats just the point !

Arnot & Gordon have a long way to go and alot to prove even before they are considered at Griggs level IF they ever get there, Also Arnot is a very very different player to Grigg and plays a different role/position as with Gordon he is more a HF/Inside mid where Grigg is a wingman/outside runner that drifts foward on occasions

The only player i can see replacing Shaun Grigg in the team in the next 2 years is Kamden McIntosh but he is just a kid in his 2nd year coming off a major injury

You dont give away your perfectly running commodore in the hope that 1 day you might get a BMW

Yeah it looks like there isn't anyone on our list who could push him out just yet. I just hope he can regain his 2012 form and really have an impact next season

Houli did say that he wanted to move more midfield and be more attacking next year, and I was wondering that when he said that, who does his job?

I'm concerned about our midfield depth. Our best 3 in Cotchin, Deledio and Martin are as good as anyone's. If Jackson has another 2013 well then he is quality also. However our next tier is made up of young players with potential (Vlastin, Ellis and Conca), Foley (who is impossible to predict) and Grigg (a footsoldier).

Outside of these players with have recruited Matt Thomas, and then we have a bunch of 19-22 year olds who have each played less then 15 games in Arnott, Helbig, O'Hanlon, Gordon, Williams, etc

By seasons end I'd like to see the 22 being the following:

B: Steve Morris Alex Rance Dylan Grimes
HB: Bachar Houli Troy Chaplin Matt Dea
C: Brandon Ellis Trent Cotchin Reece Conca
HF: Ben Lennon Tyrone Vickery Dustin Martin
F: Matt Mcdonough Jack Riewoldt Ivan Maric
R: Shaun Hampson Brett Deledio Daniel Jackson

EMG: Shaun Grigg Jake Batchelor Brett O'Hanlon

Changes from the round 1 side are:
Out: Nathan Foley Jake King Shaun Grigg Ricky Petterd Chris Knights
In: Brad Helbig Matt Mcdonough Matt Arnot Matt Dea Ben Lennon

Call it a changing of the guard somewhat as a few of the older brigade make way for younger more talented kids. Looking at the 2 sides I don't see much of a difference in the quality of the side with the above changes taking place.

Ellis and Conca are passed being judged as potential mate!

Given there are already 5 changes and no viable replacement for Maric as the second ruck, with Vickery playing KPF next season, I don't see Maric being moved on just yet.

I quite like this but obviously it won't work out that way since you have to account for injuries etc

Not exactly a forward pocket though, bench him and rotate. Put a forward in the pocket thanks.

That last side was more about what I want the outcome to be from the year i.e. kids pushing through.

We'll be playing with 3 talls up forward so for the most part one of Maric/Hampson will be stationed in the forward line. The only way it would change is if the weather was poor or it's late in the game and we want more run then I'd expect to see one of them to be subbed out.
