It irks me that some sections of the media perceive St Kilda as an easy target. And, in particular, its coach Grant Thomas, who some believe came into the job by unorthodox means. Whatever the truth, it is obvious to me that the Saints are now doing something very right with Thomas at the helm.
His sacking of Matthew Capuano this week is a tragedy for the young man, but quite possibly the right thing for the football club. Would anyone have fired a shot at Sheedy had he sacked a player to get Damien Peverill back on to the senior list in his first year after a long-term injured player returned to demote Peverill back to the rookie list mid-season? I think not.
