Check out this thread from 2001, after such a poor first 2/3 of the season and just being walloped by Adelaide, St Kilda fans were at their lowest ebb since the eighties. Blight had failed to produce and the fans couldn't see light at the end of the tunnel.

This is not stuff we need to post. I'm sure that all Saints supporters have had there ears bashed by all the other supporters over the years!! 2004 was the start of something special.I for one hope the Saints and the supporters have a good 2005!

I want people to realise just how great this era we are entering into is.

It was only a short while ago that Saints were struggling and the fans (just like us) were bereft of hope.

Now look at things, we are genuinely a contender for our second flag ever - and it won't stop there.

I remember the day Blight was sacked as if it was yesterday. For a few brief moments I really thought that was it. We were a mess both on and off the field and you just couldn't see where we could turn it around.

Just 3 years later and we have the best young list in the competition having risen from 11th to 3rd as well as posting a million dollar profit and passing the 30,000 member mark. You really do have to hand it to Rod Butterss, Grant Thomas, Brian Waldron and the board for having the courage of their convictions.

Great post Sainter You are absolutely spot on I also felt the same way when Blight was sacked although I didnt want him as a coach in the first place but I thought oh well he may be the NEW MESSIAH lol But during the first few games it was apparent that he wasnt really interested But my hat is off to Rod, Brian Grant and all their staff as well as ALL the players and especially to the Supporters who have really stuck by our fantastic club and given us some hope for a successful era
