Reviewing really well early. Good work by IGN to highlight the micro transactions so anyone can make an informed decision on whether they want to purchase it or not.

I have never really played a DMC game but after seeing the reviews and some game footage on youtube I may purchase this once my backlog finishes

What do you mean? I said it was reviewing well, and since then the reviews continue to be excellent. I really liked 4 and this sounds awesome.
You did, my fault.

I misread your comment. The not and the bottom of the second line threw me off.

Played a couple of hours of this today.

Never played any of the series and not sure if i like this or not. The game itself isnt terrible and the cut scenes are pretty good but dont know if i love the genre

As a long time fan of the series I found 5 a step down from the DmC reboot to be honest. I had fun with it, but they didn't quite nail a lot of the things the reboot did.
the fighting seems very simple in that you just mash buttons and do the same repetitive fight moves over and over again

Does it get better as the game goes on?

Haven't actually played this latest DMC but I assume it's all the same. It's like Bayonetta and based on scores. Better combos, better scores, more rewards to upgrade stuff so you can do better combos and get higher scores.

meh, I think I will give it about another hour or so before I pack it in

I found that it did get a lot better, but that it never really hit any great heights. The combat itself is a downgrade on DmC but does improve a bit.

I dunno, I had fun with it but I also wouldn't be jumping up and down to recommend it to others.

I got it on GamePass. Played a couple of levels and then got distracted by better games.

It'd weird because 'fans' of the series say that the mainline games are vastly superior to DmC and yet I loved DmC and have never managed to pump more than a couple of hours into the other games.
