List Mgmt. DFA targets

FWIW I'd prefer to see us looking for gems with low picks in the draft rather than attempting to find a winner among the discards. With Hine having a proven record with late picks it seems a bit of a waste to not even try, yet I can also see that picking up e.g. Matthew Wright or Adcock might work out well.
I agree with you. Having a look at the list you posted I would prefer Hine to weave some of his magic than hope one of the DFA come good. Although a little bit of experience to help out the younger guys could also be a good idea. (How's that for sitting on the fence) I suppose ultimately the club will do what they consider to be the best for the team.

Hawthorn recruited Lake as a 30 year old.
He is now a triple Premiership player.
You cannot just gift kids games.
Their time will come.
Adcock can still play and was probably BOG in his last game for Lions.
His experience can speed up development of lots of the kids.
Lake was not sacked by his team, but the bulldogs more or less entertained a trade because the draft pick was to enticing. Lake is also a KPP that could play gorillas. Adcock does not offer anything from a playing sense that will help the team win matches.

No........he wouldn't make our best 22 hence is denying a young player an opportunity. Adcock is not going to improve our list.
To put it into perspective Brisbane who finished 2nd last this season sacked him.

Our list is loaded with youngsters. A little bit of experience and leadership wouldn't hurt. Not every player improves the list. Some are just additional depth which in itself is improvement of sorts.

Given we have lost senior players ( in terms of age) Armstrong Young and Dwyer and picked up only Howe, there's plenty of room for and older player to add to the list. No harm done even if he plays VFL all season.

Hine has delivered his message already about the quality of the draft, that's why we will probably have only two live picks, a second round and a fourth round. If it's a choice between a fifth round pick or a DFA such as Adcock then I choose Adcock.

We still have to add 6 more players to our overall list.
Can't see us adding 6 more 18-19 year olds.
We surely will add a DFA or mature age State League player via draft.

Definitely sitting on the ottoman

If Maynard and Scharenberg are both good enough then they can get games and get games in the same team as Adcock.

It's not out of the question Collingwood look at a combination of five general backs such as: Williams, Scharenberg, Langdon, Maynard and Adcock.

My view with Collingwood's list is now that we've added Treloar, Howe and Aish. It's showtime. This list should make finals and I predict this team finishes top 5-6. Add Adcock and that may be the difference between finished 5th, and making the top 4 with veteran leadership and immediacy of performance mattering.

Our players have a tendency to get hurt at a high enough frequency, so if our players even after an addition such as Adcock can't get any senior games. They probably don't deserve the senior opportunities in the first place.

Overall I'd much rather have an Adcock for the next couple of seasons who can aide the development of our young players, and help improve our best 22, and help us possibly go further during finals footy in a time where I'm not feeling any one dominant team in the competition, with probably West Coast going into next season my early premiership tip.
Ben Reid adds enough experience to a developing back line. I'm bullish we will have him right

Adcock? No. We have a stack of halfback options who are faster, less vanilla, better kicks and better one on one. He's not young enough to do a Varcoe for us, in my opinion

We will add some mature bodies to the list but I don't think we will be adding late 20's type players. There are a number of players that have served an apprenticeship elsewhere that would fit the Collingwood blueprint. All of them are sub 25 years of age and have time to work on there game and continue to improve, so that they can add some value to the team. People need to understand that Collingwood have done allot of work to get the list to this stage, we are not going to deviate from that model.

It's really only four since we are committed to Thomas and Keefe.
No it's actually 8 minus Keeffe/Thomas.
11 players out...only 3 players in (so far).
We need 44 players (not counting Cat B).
We currently have 35 senior plus 1 rookie (Gault) = 36
Hence, besides Keeffe/Thomas, we still need to add 6 more players.

Fair enough. Hine really has his work cut out for him then.

Langdon and Marsh were from a "weak draft". I'm sure we'll be fine.
