I can handle losing but I can't handle blokes not giving their all. Bitterly dissapointing way to end the season. Bitterly dissapointing. Skill level crap, endeavour level by too many was wanting. I hate to say it, but an embarrassing effort on national TV. Blokes looked scared. What happened? I acknowledge Eagles are a magnificent side but the way Bulldogs played harks back to Rhode style football. I am not bagging Eade but by god that was an absolutely crap effort. There were guys out there tonight that should not play for us again. Eagleton being one..
Anyway, anger aside, we looked second rate; perhaps it showed us how far behind the top four we really are. Its one thing beating Victorian sides but another beating the best sides from around the country.
I cant handle us putting on that type of effort on national TV for the whiole of Australia to see. Embarassing to watch. Terrible way for Rohan Smith to go out, a terrible way.

Care to elaborate? Who are you specifically referring to?

Why single anyone out when we were bad across the board?

Just angry I suppose, and responding to a query.

u r kidding

i would die in a ditch for nathan

wont hear a word against him when every one else except cam wight played like my gran

I thought Cam Wight gave his all and wasnt good enough. How many games has he played? Can you really expect a guy that couldnt get a game each week this year to play on a man like Hunter who played in last years grand final??? Be Fair... My Gran would have been proud of Cam tonight.

Cam played on Hansen and for the most part did a good job. He got away a few times early, but Wight tried his butt off. He's only played 10 games, but I think he has a future. He needs to learn a bit about positioning and, obviously, needs to work on size and strength. He should get there.

If it makes you feel any better, you might remember the Eagles finished 8th 2002-2004, copping a finals beating each time (2 embarrassing thrashings by much better sides and a plucky try against Essendon). Sometimes the group just isn't ready to take it up to a quality side in the finals (lets face it, Collingwood were never better than you in any major way), they'll definitly take something out of the loss, hopefully for your sakes they don't do it 3 years in a row! ;)

Best of luck for next season, you've got a quality spread of players onboard already.

Good to see someone else gutted by our efforts tonight.

I think a lot of contributing factors made it seem worse than it was. The umpiring at stages was bloody awful. Channel 10 even had a little blurb after the match where the showed about 11 or 12 instances where - in the first half - Dogs should have arguably received free-kicks but didn't. These were all at the time when the game was to be won - and is an important point to raise...

Our 3rd Qtr was great, the work-rate was pretty good, and it was a really good arm wrestle. There were patches where it looked as though if we could pinch a goal, anything could happen. Unluckily for us, they sealed the only goal of the Qtr and that was that - our dash was done.

A lot of players didn't work hard enough tonight. That is probably a combination of a lot of things, but the travel, the end of a long season, the big match last weekend....Plus, playing against the best team in the competition (sorry Adelaide, and Sydney), who lost their first final last week infront of a home crowd and were keen to make amends.

Efforts like last night should not be tolerated, and the fact that the scoreline blew out so much in the last Qtr was really disappointing. Let's not shy away from that, but let's also remember that we were playing against a very good quality opposition, in trying conditions and received not much help in the way of luck or umpiring decisions.

Something that we need to work on for next year is our ability to sustain a high intensity in the work-rate over greater periods of the game, and not fade in and out like we have been. Could be a concentration, or fitness issue. Another pre-season, some more meat on the frames, and some more tactical nous in the clearance will also be very important. I feel we are definently going in the right direction, how far this direction takes us is up to the players and coaching staff.

You had a good season guys - it sucks that you lost in the manner you did, but remember it's all part of the process, you'll be better for it next year.

Don't start tearing shreds off your players who've tried their guts out all year.

Agree 100%

The dogs have been embarrassed many times in finals since i have been watching. Blown away without even getting into the game in any real way in finals in '92, '94, '95, '98, '99, '00.

Last night wasn't in that category. We were the 8th team, playing agianst the 1st team. It was interstate, at a ground renowned for its effect on umpires in favour for the home team. It was in conditions that didn't suit us. With a minute or so to go in the 3rd quarter, we were still within 5 goals of them.

In that 3rd quarter the guys battled very hard to keep the season alive. Getting within a about a minute of keeping the Eagles goalless in a final at Subi is not the sort of thing that a side that is lacking endeavour can do. Our skill level was poor all night, and yet still we hung with possibly the best team in the comp for the majority of the night.

Good enough? No.
Embarrassing? Definately not.

Don't let the last thought in your minds overshadow what has been an amazing season from a side of young kids who have had to step up after so many senior players went down with injury.
The team has done the club proud this season and hopefully given some of the younger players a real taste of finals football.
Don't be bitter Doggies, You will bite back in 2007.
