Cooking is fun.

Pork Ribs on the barbie, slow cooked under the hood. Side serve of boiled egg, tomato, finely chopped onion and crumbled mersey valley cheese.

Accompanied with the best cold beer, and the best cold beer is Vic.

That's dinner tonight.

And I wish our club would take its chance in the right time of the cycle, and also dearly wish we would've been a rich, dees over the last two years.

As for the sponsor, it's amazing we've got one willing to stump up considering our last two years. Club did super well to secure one, kudos.

Nah, I'm not going to lament having a sponsor - beggars can't be choosers.

Maybe try looking at it from another angle. Sponsors, like KFC, aren’t too fussed about a bit of “drama” at a club. They care about things like TV exposure, crowd attendance, etc. No matter where we are on the ladder we still get better exposure than most.

Sponsors will always pay up for that. Values and all that other soft stuff might not be as important to marketing execs compared with tv ratings.

Oh I don't disagree, I guess I'm pointing out the club would probably rather a sponsor that's better for the 'optics', or may not even be fussed about it - certainly some on here are lamenting that. Something like Myer or David Jones instead of kfc.

Like I said, considering the clubs past two years I'd argue they're not in a position to just pick and choose the sponsors they want but rather are probably just happy to have a high profile sponsor that pays. And the BF pies need to accept that.

Myer or David Jones?

Surely we should aim higher, Grace Brothers for example.

I'm free!

Sounds like you're resigned that this status quo will continue, may as well shut the doors and turn the lights out then.

They're also not paying us to be aligned with a circus that has been us the last two years, there is such a thing as good pr, we haven't been that.

IF we weren't such an embarrassment in that time, we wouldn't even be talking about kfc as a sponsor it'd probably be a highly popular high profile sponsor not just high profile junk food.

I don’t think you understand sponsorship. They want exposure and a “circus” delivers exactly that.

Depends how progressive the company is. And even the progressive ones are more about being seen to be doing the right thing rather than actually doing the right thing.

IIRC when Ed made his comment about drowning Caro, CGU redirected a big chunk of its sponsorship payments to our women’s program. Did it make any material difference? Probably not. But the sponsor still did feel the need to be seen to be doing something. And the sponsor did ultimately chose not to renew the contract - probably for unrelated reasons, but still you’d rather not have those previous incidents to wonder about.

Jordy will be on the nose to some sponsors, but highly prized by others, depending on the image they are trying to be associated with. Monster Energy aren't going to drop JDG - I suspect that, they'd in fact be loving it.

Loving it like KFC :)

JDG remains highly marketable. Doesn’t matter if the suitors change.

These are the type of issues they could bounce off the members?
Have 2-3 different design proposals for next years Members gear.
Run an online poll.
I would prefer the top without the white hoop.

edit how about an Indigenous Polo option?
I understand where you are coming from, but allowing members to decide what the merch looks like is a minefield no even remotely intelligent board would try to cross.
It just begs to cause division and angst.
