Didak....?

That will all depend on whether Chris Judd chooses us and how can we structure a deal to satisfy WCE. Going by reports, Craig seems to be extremely keen on Didak and if Judd chooses us, it's sad but i can't see Didak being at our club in 2008.

This year, will be one of the better trade weeks we will see for some time.

yeah definately will depend on the Judd trade & what we can do with Hudson, McGregor & our picks. would add more (C word) into our side along with Thompson which we realy need.

i personally cant see didak ever leaving.

I cant see judd picking collingwood either...

Despite keeping bad company;), Didak would be a massive asset to any club. He took his game to a new level this year, despite having to recover from injury, and now is not only a creative, match winning goal-kicker but competent mid-fielder. And I think, barring injury, he will continue to get better.

These points would make him one of Collingwood's untouchables. The only way Didak would leave the Pies was if he decided he wanted out. And I don't see him wanting out.

If he did want to leave, then you would have to pay a huge premium - some may disagree with me, but I think Collingwood would value him as much as Judd.

So I just don't see it hapening.

Do you what would be an absolutely awesome trade week would be if we traded Huddo and McGregor and our 2nd round pick for pick 5 and then ontraded our pick 10 to collingwood for Didak which they would they sent to the West Coast as part of the Judd trade. We then use pick 5 to snare Ebert in the draft.

It wont happen though, but I do have a feeling that Didak might leave collingwood if Judd decides to go there because Collingwood will then be in the market for draft picks and with us finishing lower than the power we have the ability to offer a better pick to trade for Didak.

Do you think Didak will be a new crows player in 2008?

Probably not because Collingwood will only trade if they are getting Judd and then will want early draft picks better than the Crows current pick 10 and Adelaide usually incapable of doing big trades. That's probably too many IFS:thumbsd:

Do you think he should?

YES! :thumbsu:

I don't know where this theory that Adelaide cannot do big trades comes along, yes, they don't tend to trade a heap, but when they do, they tend to do it pretty well, over the years we got some gun players through trading. Think Jarman, Koster, Caven, M. Clarke, A Mcleod, Bode, Biglands a while back, more recently we have the Wayne Carey trade, where we also picked up Torney, whilst it didn't work out terribly well in the end, Torney has probably been as good as Johnson has. We got pick 17 for Watts and he is yet to do much, nor has Pfeiffer, but he has the potential, we got Thomson for Stenglein. Even some of the lesser trades, eg for Ronnie Burns, we probably came out on top as Matty Shir I think the trade was for didn't do anything.

I have no doubt that the AFC will get a pretty good deal out of this trade week, when forced we can do really well and looking at some of the class of players there that we have recieved in the past, it puzzles me that Craig has been so anti-trading, yes its like a meat market, but that is the game and it must be done. (I appologise in advance if a couple of those earlier trades were infact PSD picks or something, Im pretty sure they weren't but not a 100%)

I'd love to see Diddles as a CROW for 08 and beyond. He is a South Aussie, so having him in our squad for 08 would be terrific. He could be the little crumbing forward that we lack. Imagine Porps and Diddles in the forward line crumbing those long entries into our forward line.

what would you give up for didak???take into account tarrant got pick 8 in the SUPER draft and medhurst who also has proved valuable...

We wouldnt give anything realy would have to be in a 3 way with other clubs with Hudson, McGregor & Meesen..

Meesen & a 2nd rounder would be about the most we'd offer in a swap, but thats unlikely. possibly consider pick 10

thats why, even though people continously say trade didak to the crows, it doesnt serve our perpose, given we wouldnt get the draft picks from the one likely club hed go to, to off load to west coast...

my point bein, collingwood would only trade him if it were part of a judd deal, i just cant see it goin down given we would be more interested in an early picks(not knockin those players or offers)..our problem would be west coast would then want another early pick so we would then have to off load another quality player and then you have to ask yourself wether its worth it...

exactly, collingwood want an early pick (top 5) to package up to get judd, didak (IMO) is worth that early pick and crows don't have one so have to go out and get one. Are we capable? (got my doubts, despite James_37 reckoning ), do we have the tradeable players? (only if we use our draft pick 10 as well).

Love it to happen, can't see it happening.

I can see this Judd trade stuffing up the whole of trade week, as nothing will happen until this deal is done, let's hope it's sorted out bar the signing of contracts before trade week.

Ben Finnin so we lost nothing, except the possibility of picking up a kid late in the draft.

In a very week draft.

2002 was a draft where a lot of delisted players got re-drafted back on the AFL lists. Its possibly one of the worst drafts in recent history. The only young kid we put on the list was Luke Jericho. In that draft we re-drafted Shirley and drafted James Begley after he was delisted by St. Kilda.

I don't think we lost a thing in that deal. In the same circumstances I would do that deal EVERY time over and over again. We got Ronnie Burns for peanuts to pair him with Wayne Carey. It hasn't worked out as well as we hoped but it was a smart move by us at the time.

I've said it before, but..

The only way either AFC or Port for that matter will get Didak is if either

a. the powers that be at Collingwood want to get rid of him (ie there is more to the "gangster" story than we know); or
b. it is a necessary part of the Judd trade, should Judd choose Collingwood.

In either scenario I would expect Collingwood to seek at least a top 5 pick plus a useful player....

If such a deal is to come to pass, I can see Adelaide being in a much better position to trade for him than Port (assuming Didak wanted to return to SA). It would take something like:

- Adelaide trade pick 10 + Hudson to WB for pick 5
- Adelaide on-trade pick 5 + someone like Meesen, McGregor or Mattner to Collingwood
- Collingwood trade pick 5 + pick 14 + Ben Reid or Nathan Brown to WC for Judd

Can't really see how Port could get involved in such a deal given WC have indicated they are after picks more than players for Judd....
