Poor Brisbane.

They do enough to beat the kangas most times but those lovely men in white seem to always make sure they don't quite get there.
Remember last year's H&A match where Bris were going to win and then in the dying seconds the ump pulled a free out of nowhere and Kangas got up. Well its happened again...
This time it was over the whole match. The push in the back paid to Motlop in front of goal which was actually a good push in the side! And then, those white hypocrites have the nerve to not pay a push in the back when in the dying seconds Bris was about to kick the winning goal.

And what about that double play by Sholl. What a weak umpire, oh no! sholl got tapped gently in the chin, lets give him a free kick in front of goal. Almost as bad as the one Hird got when he was playing against STk.

Better have another look Slatts! Even the rabid Lions supporters around me shut up when they saw a replay of Motlop being pushed in the back! Oh and Pickett was roundly applauded in the press today for his brilliant game-saving and legal TACKLE on Ashcroft. North had many grounds for complaint with the umpires but, what the hell, we won despite them!!

Groucho,
Have a good hard long look at the replay mate. The Motlop, was in the side.
The Lawrence one was in the back, he was eating sand.
The Sholl one was bizarre.
Surely mate you can't be happy winning a game in these circumstances.

Groucho,
Please have a look at my posting at crybabies.
I am a footy coach. Please don't sound like a whinging North supporter.I feel that I am unbiased, as I don't barrack for either team. I always tape the Friday night match for teaching reasons. The commentators, in Breaton and Dunstall, are ex players, highly professional in the comments they make. I have never heard them make such comments beore, continually all night.
So lets just call this what it was, a huge umpiring stuff up, all night. They we off their game.
I just hope that Geishan learns from this game, as it would be horrible for the competition if this was a normal occurance instead of unusal.
Also interesting to hear that their have transfered the matches at Colonial from today onwards. Shame it couldn't have been done ladt night, for the safety of the players from both teams. It would be horrible to have an elite players such as Carey suffer an injury because he has played on substandard grounds.

groucho
what game were you at?
perhaps the umpires were given a directive to assist the AFL protected roos
how else could anyone understand the inconsistancy of the umpiring that night
it was rubbish!
you should have seen the roo supporters leaving, they were not cocky at all
they knew the roos were just lucky, & not deserving of the 4 points

The umpiring was shocking last night, not just for Brisbane, but for North as well.

By the way, nice bit of shepherding by (I think it was) Goldspink against Carey that let Leppitsch take that mark....wouldn't it have been more honest if the umpire wore a Brisbane jumper? Not forgetting in the final quarter when Motlop had the ball in front of him with an open goal.....but with a Brisbane player hanging onto his jumper? Where was our free for that? So Lions fans, it got balanced out in the end....but it still doesn't excuse the crap umpiring ALL NIGHT....off to the country with those three men in white.

I was there last night. Not a Lion or Roo.
Shinboner I don't think it evened out.
Fair enough it was disgusting all night. But the decisions made against the Lions, were made at crucial stages in front of goal. Like the Sholl one.
At the end we were at in the 3rd quarter.Bradshaw was held in front of us, no free paid.Knobel laid a great tackle, no free paid, it was a definate holding the ball against Martyn.Shaun Hart was tackled by the legs, no free given.Mc Rae tackled high, no free.Thats just what I can remember from close to us.
Take that on top of the push in the back down the other end. etc etc.
It didn't really didn't even out.

the best thing was that out of the 26000 crowd there half were for brissy Sad Sad Norfffffffrfffffffffffffff Fiji maybe?????

cya later Norfffff ("we luv the umpire" quote the king 9/6/00)

Only 26,000. It sounded like a fair few on the tv were for Brisbane, a lot of noise from them.
Wonder if those umpires will be officiating next week.
A friend of mine went last night, a North man.He said they were lucky. Something not previously mentioned, they were behind the North cheersquad. In the 3rd quarter, 2 goals were registered but were points.Wonder if this will be noted.

One thing I know for a fact is that Hayden Kennedy is a North supporter, has been all his life. Which leads to the interesting situation, all umpires must have at one stage been fans of some team. Should they then have to state the team they barrack for and not be allowed to EVER umpire in those matches? On Kennedys display last night, it really did seem that he was favouring the Roos.
ps Sholl, hang your head in shame to claim that free, what a wuss. Clever but the weakest act i have seen in years, makes you yearn for the 70's.

Don't forget one John Harvey. I believe he is a confessed North supporter and screwed the Crows royally in one particular game a few seasons ago ('97 or '98) when an excess of holding-the-ball decisions were suddenly paid in the last quarter, culminating in the famous one against Shaun Rehn.

Ah, memories.

I'm not stcking up for the morons in white, I repeat, I'm not sticking up for them in anyway.

But at least on Friday night they had the guts to make decsions, whether they be right or not.

Today at Optus Oval, there were only 8 free kicks payed after qtr time, that's a combination of both sides. 5 to Carlton, 3 to Geelong.

Of course, umpire Harvery was in charge!, the showpony!

The fact is, if Brisbane hadn't have got so far down, then they would have won, North were good enough to get a big margin, Brisbane weren't good enough to come back.

Just ask the Bulldogs, If you get so far behind every week, don't expect to win every week.

All of these posts should be in my Crybabies Thread.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Biggest pack of Crybabies ever, always got an excuse, never say you were not good enough, that is why you never beat us, now.

is it 18 - 6 our way? SUFFER.

Pity you didn't pick Pike or Chandler, or keep Clayton, PACK OF CRYBABIES.

Chandlers played one game in over a year.
Clayton was homesick.
Pike was drunk when they went to sort out the details for his move to Brisbane at 10 am . Say no more.

I'm not sure if I remember this exactly about the shepherd on carey but didn't Justin bump the umpire a little as he went for the lead making the ump get in the way of Carey. If he did it deliberately, it was a bloody good piece of work.
Anyway Carey wasn't running that well throughout the match, he probably wouldn't have made the spoil since Justin is such a good mark.

By the way, I'm not a freakin Brisbane supporter, I just think they are hard done by with the ump decisions when they play North.

To take the focus away from the umpiring for a moment, did anyone else see Justin Leppitsch's attempted inducement of a 50 metre penalty?

Taking a kick in the backline, Leppitsch saw a Kangaroo player about to run behind him so moved backwards rapidly in an attempt to make the player run across in front of him! I heard about it on the radio and then thought it was hilarious once I saw it...

Funniest attempt to get a fifty that I've ever seen.
But to answer Long John, Pike's a drunk, Chandler's no good, and Clayton is okay.
By the way, how's Calthorpe, the fat useless bastard going! HAHAHA! Great recruiting by North getting Colbert and him who are deadweight. All well, there goes your chances of getting another prem. this year.

Slatts,

I like how you put "getting ANOTHER Premiership" one day you will know the feeling, if you don't die first.

Hey LJ, I only have to wait till 2 Sept for our next prem. It will be one of many for the mighty dons. By the way how many prem's have north won? 15,16? Oops, silly me, North haven't actually got past five. Shows how much I care about North.
How many more prem's do you think you think you'll win without your precious mug-Carey. To put it in the words of John Elliot, North have a "tragic history"
I think we all know who will die first waiting for their next prem. HAHAHAHAHA!

PS
Enjoy Calthorpe and Colbert for the next few years.
