DEADLINE
It's Christmas Eve and the snow falling steadily over Dulles International Airport is a Christmas miracle for all the kids in the Washington DC area, but a Christmas nightmare for the air traffic controllers. Sitting above the clouds, flights circle endlessly, pilots are burning fuel and passengers are muttering about the flight connections they’re definitely going to miss.
News crews have arrived after news has filtered through that General Esperenza is due to arrive at Dulles at any moment, what was meant to be a closely guarded secret. Colonel Stuart, a vocal supporter of Esperenza’s former regime and a man with a reputation for appearing precisely where he shouldn’t be, has already drawn attention and set off some hushed conversations from security staff.
And our hero of the hour - John McClane - has also just arrived for what should be a simple pickup of his wife Holly. He's quick to notice some strange movements around the entrance to the baggage carousel and despite raising the alarm, is at best politely ignored, at worst attacked for being a problem-maker by those in charge. In fact, the Airport Leadership is so hopelessly out-of-touch, they're putting peoples lives in danger with their incompetence.
As word spreads that landings are being delayed, McClane’s sense kick into overdrive. The weather hasn't eased, but there is obviously more going on and Holly's plane is still circling. And what will make things infinitely more irritating, she’s just discovered that Dick Thornburg (a pathetic shell of a man who treats human suffering like a career opportunity) is seated only a few rows ahead of her.
John McClane, again, is going to have to take things into his own hands. And the fact that there are already victims on the ground AND in the air just confirms he's not wrong ...

MODERATOR ANNOUNCEMENT
High above the skies over Washington DC, a tired air hostess tried to get everyone back into their seats. But one man feigns being sick and forces his way into the plane's bathroom.
He doesn't even need to be called
Dick. He just looks like a Dick.
Moments later, a news feed with a flickering video feed starts sharing information about the trouble brewing at Dulles International Airport. Under the glow of the sickly bathroom lights, the pathetic figure starts talking.
“This is Dick Thornburg,” he says breathlessly, “And I'm reporting live from thirty thousand feet. What I’m about to reveal has been verified by my sources and cannot be suppressed. General Esperenza is due to land soon and his supporters have hijacked the airport to secure his escape."
He glances nervously at the locked door before continuing.
"I've also found out the secret identity of a key player in this whole situation - jmoo wan is a Pilot (Flog)."
Dick straightens his tie, clearly pleased with himself, despite the fact his meddling has once again put an innocent in danger. Only moments later the transmission cuts off abruptly, as the Air Hostess finally gets into the bathroom to get the petulant, self-satisfied reporter back to his seat.

Despite commanding a fearsome international reputation, it seems that the law enforcement personnel accompanying General Esperenza did not hold him in the same esteem. And in fact, they behaved in what has sadly become known to be standard operating procedure for American law enforcement - the flight recorders were somehow switched off, details of what actually happened are unaccounted for and the prisoner in their custody has turned up dead.

DEADLINE
The old ornate clock gifted to Dulles International Airport from the original chapter of the Ku Klux Klan (best not to ask) ticks over past midnight into the early moments of Christmas Day, but the snowstorm hasn’t lifted and neither has the tension crackling through the terminals.
At a church on the outskirts of the airport precinct, Police converge following reports of suspicious behaviour earlier in the evening. As they edge closer to the building, shots fly above their head and we have an old-fashioned night-time shoot-out where almost no-one knows who is on their side. John McClane has somehow wrangled his way into the operation and shouts out to halt the shooting. It's eerily calm and they come across two bodies already icy cold lying in the snow.
They roll the first body over and are met with the infamous face of Major Grant, a significant coup that suggests that the terror that has taken over the city has now been extinguished. The second is a man still holding the lead of his (thankfully still alive) dog he'd been taking for a walk. Another innocent caught in the crossfire.

The Terrorists have been eliminated, but the general public are still not safe. There are hundreds of flights still circling with dwindling fuel supplies and the incompetence of the Airport Leadership can NOT be trusted.
It is now Day 2.

As predicted by Dick Thornburg of all people, the fact that The Terrorists were dead was no indication that the threat to the safety of thousands of people had abated. Pilots were getting more and more anxious to get their planes (and passengers) down onto the ground as soon as possible, but the Airport Leadership seemed incapable of dealing with the stress of having to land so many planes in quick succession. Plans to re-route some of the waiting aircraft to nearby airports were scuttled by the worsening snowstorm.
And John McClane and his compatriots almost seemed at a loss now that General Esperenza and his supporters had all been taken out. He was still desperate to see the safe arrival of his wife, but things were slipping. And more innocent people were becoming victims ...

Family members were panicking and the security guards were getting overwhelmed attending to little spotfires happening all around. John McClane was pacing incessantly, trying to find a way to bring everyone back to their senses and the sunlight from Christmas dawn was slowly breaking through the clouds above. Unfortunately, it wasn't bring any solace with it, as yet another death was discovered and this time, it was the Chief Engineer ...
