yes, its really my fault that i didnt buy tickets in time. not my fault that the majority of tickets were sold during the presale, or that tickets were sold out by 10 seconds past 9am.

but my fault that i wasnt on ticketmaster at 9am. what can i say? florence and the machine have one album, and $85 approx is a lot of money for a one album act.

the real stinger is getting on ebay to see tickets being scalped for more than twice their face value. i cannot stand the fact that i have to pay an arseh*le premium to people who will buy or acquire dozens of tickets for the express purpose of gouging people like me who actually have to work and cant sit on their computer all day.

festivals have anti scalping measures in place, why cant regular gigs?

finally, if theres anyone out there with 2 spare tickets who feels like being kind and helping a brothet out, rather than selling for a profit, id be sooo appreciative... i'll buy ya a beer on the nite ;)

i heard about the price of their gig, 85 bucks...who do they think they are?

Telling people what the gig is helps ;)

so would reading the post ;)

edit: unless ur asking wahat city. in that case, melbourne

Its gotten out of control...there needs to be law passed over this crap...tickets should only ever be allowed to be resold at retail value :thumbsd:

The last ashes series when England toured here, I took the morning off to buy tickets. I had a special "Australian Cricket Family" code which was meant to prevent scalpers. I stayed online for 4 hours straight, phoniong and online and never got a ticket.

My mate had 2 girls from his office working full time all morning trying to get tickets. Again no luck.

Just before the test match, tickets started appearing for ridiculous prices on the net.

I have been to every test match at the WACA for over 20 years, excepting v Zimbabwe as it wasn't worth calling it a test match !

I suggested that we agree to pay the $300 a ticket but when we go to pick them up, to beat the shit out of the scalping scum and steal the tickets. I was only half joking !

I go to heaps of gigs and nothing pisses me off more than scalpers.

I am going to see Florence and the Machine though. She was incredible at Laneway.

Good thread. The part that annoys me is that is seems the majority of the good seats are never available - before you prepare to buy tickets, a lot of the good ones are already gone. I agree with them going to the performer/band's fan club, but a lot of them seem to go to other people, like the promotors, the venue, the sponsors and also for contests.

I have tried to get tickets to all sorts of events - I have the luck of having a good internet connectin and can be available at 9am. But even if you press the button a 5 seconds past 9am, it still takes forever to buy anything because of these stupid websites. Mind you, having to going thrugh 5 pages with login detils, what tickets, payment etc just adds to the frustration.

Relating to JimDocker's summary of the Ashes fiasco, the "Cricket Family" was a joke anyway. When Cricket Aus gives plenty of tickets to tour operators, sponsors etc, half of the tickets were no even available to start with. Of course, none of these promotors actually want to reveal how many seats are available for sale.

The other part that annoys me is that people buy tickets 6-12 months out from an event. Closer to the event, they might not be able to go. You should be able to sell the tickets back to Ticketek/Master so someone else could buy them. That situation is just forcing people onto Ebay, which is just stupid.

one of the reasons there is no good seats left when they go on sale. when Pearl jam where here last i read on facebook one of my friends said he got front row centre and backstage passers but that was even before the pre sale, and i am pretty sure it had love you sis or cuz at the end, where me and my mate bought our tickets 30 sec into the pre sale and we where in the back pocket about 30 rows back...good luck to the guy but it shits me a bit the i could not even have a chance at them coz i dont know anyone in ticktec

The reality is scalpers are scum. I have been left with spare tickets quite a few times and always passed them on for face value. So have other people that I know.

We are dealing with people with no morals.

scalpers are fine; essentially, they can only sell the tickets at what the market can get for them, as reflected by the rare occassions where they will buy a shitload of tickets to some gig, expecting to make a profit on re-sale, but there ends up being little interest and they can't offload them all at even cost value.

perhaps earn more money? :p
