Different jumper?

I was in the AFL store tonight and I saw a different Essendon jumper.

It was half red and half black. They were separated by a diagonal line which follows where the bottom of the sash usually sits. The back was predominantly red. There was an Essendon logo on the left breast and that big ugly 3 thing in the middle.

Is this simply a new training jumper or is it some alternate that is being trialed?

I have not seen the jumper but it sounds horrible. If we have to have an alternate jumper, I would prefer plain black with a large Essendon logo on the front.
Nothing will ever beat the black jumper with the red sash.

Your post made me rather curious about the jumper and quite scared! So I went into the AFL Store today, in Rundle Mall and checked it out.

I took one look at it an screwed my nose up! and went on to looking at the new Bomber t'shirts, which aren't too bad.

The club's constitution bans them from wearing any other jumper than black with a red sash for games. I haven't seen the jumper, but it's probably a training one, to go with the gridiron shorts.

If you saw the Intra-club game shown on Fox Footy, half the players were wearing that hideous jersey. And yes, it is just a training jersey. (thank god)

I reckon that Aaron Henneman will be giving those jersey's away to all the Essendon fans - so when he looks into the crowd, everyone will be wearing his number 3!
