Disappointing for our kids

Not good to hear, but I'd put it down to a bad day at the office and players just wanted to go home.
Good to see the club make it up to a disappointed supporter.

Took my young bloke to Casey Fields and the highlight of his day was having a remote control car race at the Hertz stand with Fitzy (personally I was excited at getting to chat with Gawny).

"Then all of a sudden a car pulled up out the front - I thought it was a pizza delivery,'' Sam laughs.

"When I opened the door it was Nathan Jones with what looked like a pizza box, but it was actually Sydney's uniform to run through the banner, all packaged and ready to give to him.

"I thought that would be it, and then there was another knock on the door and Jack Watts came in with a cake and candles.

"I was thinking, 'wow, this is too much'. They wanted to surprise me as well, so the guys stuck around for an hour-and-a-half at our house, playing Xbox and Lego with Sydney."

On the Saturday, game day, Sam and Sydney were given the A-list treatment - invited to a private team breakfast and into the Demons changerooms, right down to Sydney being dressed head to toe in Melbourne gear and running through the banner in front of 35,000 fans with the players.

"I still don't think he's taken the smile off his face," Sam says.

Great article.

AFL players do an amazing amount of work with charities, sick kids, and just fans in general. They cannot be perfect 100% of the time. Thread has been way too harsh for my liking.
