After hearing Warren Tredrae twice now on fox footy mention the word hate it has got me thinking, the first time was a couple of months ago when he made a statement along the lines of ,
"i've always hated the crows because they kept Port Adelaide out of the AFL in 91" the second time was on monday night when Tredrae was a guest of ON THE COUCH he again said the word hate by implying that the Paps & Crows players hated each other to which Gerard Healy said that hate was a very harsh word to use,
I can understand some supporters from both sides hateing each other but as for professional players that play in the elite leval of AFL i find it bloody hard to come to grips with, am i just being nieve in this or is this now the excepted norm,

KG said on the radio this morning that relations between players from the 2 clubs are at an all time low... with many players from both clubs disliking each other. In previous years players from both clubs have got along rather well outside of football but after the Ramsgate incident and incidents during the game last weekend things have turned very sour indeed.

Adelaides AFL entry = breeds PAP resentment.

97 flag = breeds moronic cluster groups who dribble about some minor league premierships actually having some meaning

98 flag = breeds "we got some catchin up to do!!"

PAP out in Straight Sets = breeds burning desire in the guts of Choccos Chokers

Crystal Ball says.....

Only those completely disrespectful to their own state would say that SANFL premierships won before the AFL had no meaning. Most Cow members seem to forget they were the ones who were twisted and bitter that their SANFL teams just couldn't beat Port. So now that they are in what is basically still a Victorian league they are saying that pre-1991 flags that they would have given their eye-teeth to have somehow don't count.

The Port Adelaide Magpies that were in the SANFL before 1997 are the same team as Port Power, that is whom the AFL granted the licence to, the PAFC.

In 1997 the PAMFC was created and now play in the SANFL as the Magpies. This wasn't originally going to happen but the SANFL pleaded with Port Adelaide to play a team in the SANFL so they created the PAMFC.

ok I have accepted that the port magpies are not the pafc but could you please explain why last week in the advertiser the magpies had a notice in there and at the top it said asomething about the most successful club in the snafl and then in an article about their last loss it said they were going to have their worst season since 1898

That's a rhetorical question isn't it, "the advertiser" aren't exactly the most informed bunch of people.

Although a lot of people do corrolate the pre-Power magpies with the post-Power magpies, but trust me, go down to Alberton and you will see their massive board of history (forgot what they actually call it) and you can clearly see that PAFC 1870(Now the Power, previously the magpies) and PAMFC1997 are seperate.

As a Port Adelaide supporter, I don't really care if the Magpie premierships aren't counted/recognised/respected - or whatever you want to call it. It does annoy me though when clubs like Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood and the rest of them count their tally as "15 AFL premierships" when they are counting premierships won in the 1920's + 30's. Why is it O.K. that they include their VFL premierships in their tally? If the AFL started in 1990, then the Crows, Eagles,Essendon and Kangaroos have two flags each, Carlton, Hawthorn, Collingwood and Brisbane have one and the rest are yet to open their account.

exactly..because the AFL is just an extended VFL and still isn't truly the AFL yet!

I don't think anyone can belittle the amazing record of the Port Adelaide Magpies pre 1997 and I would say that the SANFL was a pretty close standard to the VFL until the mid eighties when the effects of the VFL player drain on the SANFL really started to take their toll.

But I believe the Power and the pre1997 Magpies are the same team in name only, in a similar way to one company taking over another company and retains the company name. To my mind they are not the same.

And what of the effect the Power has had on the Magpies? This once proud and strong team would appear to have had the life sucked out of it both in terms of performance and financial stability. I wonder if the Power are proud of the fact that the Magpies have become a shell within six seasons?

Oops, don't let PA1870 or Macca read comments like that or you might cop a blast from them in the not to distant future, ;)

Well getting back to the original subject, and if it's okay for this Port supporter to post here, a few years ago now I heard Andrew McLeod being interviewed on Footy Plus. In the interview he was asked about his feelings towards Port Adelaide and he said that he hates them. I'm pretty sure it was Greg Anderson that was doing the interview. He seemed shocked by McLeod's answer and questioned him further about it. McLeod re-affirmed his thoughts and went on to say that it has nothing to do with the Port Adelaide Magpies where he came from and that he doesn't hate them, just the Power. It was also well known that he is a christian at the time so it struck me as harsh of him to use the word hate. So I guess there has been hate there between some players for a long time, just not all of them come out and say it.

If that had come any other pap head Vi i would of put it of as crap but seeing as it comes from you well to say i'm surprised is an understatement, in my estimation Mcleod walks on water on & of the field, i am wounded, not mortaly but near enough,

Sorry Noddy! :(

Perhaps they just got him on a bad day. I have not heard him say it since and have seen him at Port Magpie footy clinics signing autographs and sitting along side Power players having a laugh. Perhaps it was even tongue-in-cheek as it was around showdown time. Who knows what is meant and not meant where footballers are concerned. Perhaps Wazza was just stirring too as I have seen him at the clinics getting along quite well with Crow players.
