With Collard's good pre-season form, the side to be selected from for Friday's game, Cotch's placement on the long term list, I would not be surprised if we have a retirement in the wind.
Any suggestions who may be struggling ?

that wont happen this early, as the club would be paying out balance of contract...and would appear collard has a bit to do before he presses for senior spot as we wont see him tomorrow night...Silvestor will get every chance, starting on Fri v G train...a good performance will go along way to giving him a berth, to release thursty from the gorillas

I think what has happened he is that ptf thinks that a retiring player would allow Collard to come into our AFL side. However as Jonathan Hay points out, this isn't so.

Sorry probably a poor explaination, my point is, that it clearly appears we have an extremely unusual circumstance where we have players on the rookie list ahead, in ability, of a couple of listed players and the only way they can get on to the list and considered for selection in the season proper, I beleive, is through retirement, especially when the listed players under pressure, may be those on the other side of their best footy.
Afterall, it is the clubs job to get the best players possible on its list, and I believe , and think their are signs to indicate the club agrees, there is a chance of improving the list.
Furthermore I am very comfortable that Cotch being put onto the long term list is only relative short term, and may be giving the club time to confirm it's thoughts.
Would not be surprised, and would be disappointed if the club didn't, seek all avenues considered to elevate a couple.
I might be wrong, time will only tell.

You are wrong. Like I said Jonathan Hay retired and the Kangaroos could not elevate a rookie to replace him. They can only replace players put on the long-term injury list.

From what I've seen and heard, hyde and tiva appear in danger, not neccessarily from a reliable source, but then again I couldn't understand why they were maintained on the list, maybe as a safety net.
To me it's seems logical given the off season form of similar type younger players.
Would be interesting to know the lengths of their contracts.
Maybe they are fighting for their spot over the next few weeks.

Cotchin can't be put on the LTI for short term injuries Thats why its called LONG TERM.

8 weeks I believe is the criteria, to me thats relative short term, especially when it only includes possibly 3 weeks of the season proper .
