Do we really need the extra priority pick?

I'd prefer the 1950's.

Yes Yes Yes :) Add 1950's.

MFC will be lucky to make the finals this year. If so, I can't see the club will win premiership in 2009. I doubt MFC will make the final 8.

If that's the case, I prefer to watch the 1950's video and use this video to pretend its 2009 and make the good use of this year's coming draft before 2012.

Mathematically, short pain => draft concessions => draft talent top players => winning games => finals => premiership => long term happiness. The pain is completely healed!

Add more benefits including for example:
1) Add club's success and strength as well as increase more memberships.
2) Demolish the club's debts.
3) Avoid club merger craps.
4) Increase players security for long term (10+ years)

For instance, in 2007, if MFC lost 1 more game (ie: Carlton in round 22 or Dogs few weeks before etc), Pick 4 (Morton) plus Priority Pick 18 (something like that) will be handy. Add Pick 21 (on Maric) and Pick 14 (Grimes on Travis Johnstone's trade).

This result Pick 4, 14, 18 and 21 (4 top picks)

2008 as the result of 2007 will end up the club getting Pick 1, 2 and 18 or 19 rather than Pick 1, 18 and 19.
Pick 1 Watts
Pick 2 Naitanui (?????)
Pick 18/19 Blease

As the result, MFC has lost Pick 2 on Naitanui. Although there are some people think 'wins' is more important than Naitanui. With this golden opportunity lost, it will be nice to get Pick 1 & 2 for Scully and Butcher plus Pick 18 or 19 or 20 rather than Pick 1 or 2 and Pick 18-20.

Imagine Naitanui, Watts, Scully, Butcher, Blease, Morton, Grimes, Mclean, Maric, Pick 18 (2007) etc. My goodness! Is this team will be as good as in the 1950's?

Wow I thought Dee's fans had some smarts.

Your Shite and you need all the help you can get and your more concerned with winning half a dozen games to clap and sing to give up a bonus Pick #2!

That pick #2 will be a star for 10+ years.................No-one will remember that hard fought win over the Dockers in Round 20, 2009 that cost you that star player.

Your comments are fair enough which examples has been provided. Do you realise salary cap can be an issue?

Many players play for less than market value in the great teams. If they fee that something is building, many will do their bit and stay for the chance to win a premiership.

I think some people on here are losing perspective. Melbourne aren't tanking, far from it. We aren't good enough to win 5+ games. It is just that if we get to four wins many supporters will see the big picture and although it will feel dirty, they won't exactly be pleased if the boys notch up win number five. You gotta play the system to be at the top. Personally, I am starting to feel more belief than I ever have. Picks 1 and 2 will give us our best shot to get that flag.

First and foremost I want us to win. Every game i go to or watch i am hoping we win. However there is almost no chance of us winning more than 4 games this year, the fact is that before last week we were flogged by collingwood and port. richmond are a rabble at the moment, they'll probably win this week but they were shitful last week. If it came down to round 22 and us sitting on four wins i'd be torn. I would never barrack for the otherteam but i wouldn't be shattered if we lost.

Also, Scully will be no.1. No doubt

YES and YES.

We were dumb enough in 07 and lost Nick Natanui and we've still got posters who want our club to make the same mistakes again.

Big picture people.

You guys have cats, Hawks, Saints, Dogs, pies, dons, eagles at subi and dons coming up. I can see an upset against the pies potentially but other then that you should be 1-12 going into your game Vs Eagles at G. From there you have Freo at home and Tigers as the most likely wins. And I wouldn't dare pick you guys to win all 3 of those after watching tonights game.

You could almost lock the priority pick in.:thumbsu:

Just hope Robbo doesn't win a few games of his own boot when he's back:D

It's going to be a long shit year but you just have to suck it in and think of the pot of gold at the end of the road, because Christmas will come early for the Dees in late November with Picks #1, #2 and #18.:)

I don't think you will have to worry about the TANKING saga this year. Every chance you could go into your round 18 clash with the Tige's with just 1 win to your name..........And I'm sure the Tigers will be a much better team by then.

And YES............look at the Big picture people!
