Remember the days when he was a midfield tagger. Wonder if there's still a role for him there.

The reason i'm mentioning Dodd in a tagging role is because Josh is out of contract this year.

I think the club will push him to take less money. Similar to Hasleby last year.

If worst came to worst and he retired or left (probably unlikely), who would take up his role.

Unless my memory is clouded, i remember Dodd actually being quite capable as a tagger. His endurance is definately good enough.

Also its hard to fit all our defenders in the team.

i remember dodd doing a good job on guys like goodes?

he is definately a good tagger, and i get worried about him getting exposed in 1 on 1 marking contests... if your tagging someone its less of an issue.

I think that Peake should be looked at as a possible tagger. I'm not saying he'll make it, as it is clearly not his natural game. He struggles to be a playmaker and his disposal is not good enough in that role, and in an ideal world he will not be the guy we have in that role. For me he is sitting borderline best 22, and may need to find another way to make himself a relevant part of the future.

As a tagger he has the pace to go up against some of the faster players, or, if he can shut down a slower player, to potentially hurt them the other way. He would need to get a few master-class sessions from both Carr and Crowley, but given the year is over, throw him the bone and see if he can. At the very worst it will improve the way he plays.

I am pretty sure Peake has been doing a bit of tagging this year, especially since his skills have been down.

I really thought Dodd was playing defender a lot better just before he got injured than he was in '06 and the beginning of '07.

i rate dodd pretty highly as a defender

not as a playmaker out of defence he needs to stay away from that role.

But 1 on 1 he generally does a good job an gets a spoil in.
needs to work on not giving away free kicks.

He was one of our best defenders earlier in the season an was doing pretty good in the votes on here.
Since suspensions an injuries though he hasnt looked as comfortable down back maybe not 100%
