Dodgy tote tickets

Twice in the last few days iv'e had winning tickets and when I went to collect them they have said they have already paid out.

The first one I was certain I hadn't collected but it said it had.

The second one I know for 120% sure it hadn't been collected even though the operator and those shit self serve machines were saying it had been.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Pissed me right off because the ticket was worth $120 and as I see it I have no recourse to get it back seeing as it said the tickets been already paid out.

Nah, filled it out by hand and put through the machine.

Yeah this had happened to me a while back, I just kept scanning the tickets and eventually it allowed me to collect.

Yeah iv'e had what I think you are describing happen to me heaps of times on those machines.

They say it's not a winning ticket, even if it is.

Scan it a few times and it eventually comes through.


Just this time it's saying it's been paid, and after 20 scans the same thing.

If the operator scans a ticket and it says it has already been paid it will display a message that tells them which outlet and terminal number it has been paid at, for example 304/1, outlet number 304, terminal 1.

Also they can recall the details of the bet using the serial number which will give all details of the bet including it's status (paid, winning, live, pending, etc.)

It is very common for people who haven't used EBT's to scan the ticket to see if it is winning and simply leave the credit in the EBT, if thats happened you can track it but it's harder and you'd need to know your operator pretty well for them to do it for you. And yes the EBT's scanners can be a little dodgy, i know of plenty of TAB operators that empty out the bin underneath the EBT at the end of the night and spend a few minutes scanning tickets to see if there is anything in them. So always check your tickets!

Once I was betting via my phone account on one of those EBT's and forgot to log out. The guy after me scanned his winning ticket from another race and bingo it lobbed straight into my account.

We finally worked out what happened five minutes later.

I hate those self service machines, they are pieces of crap.

I missed a big collect one day because the venue didn't have a regular machine and only had the self serivce set up.

The stupid touch screen was faulty as.

Don't get me started on dodgy self service outlets.

I have only found problems @ the self serve outlets, no problems over the counter. I haven't had to scan it 20 times however, normally after 2 or 3 it confirms as a winning ticket.

I like the idea of self service as I am sick of filling out bet cards. I would love to develop a tablet-style set-up at big TAB's with 30 seats etc, where you insert your TAB card or a pre-paid card and you have a touch screen to yourself to bet.

I have lost count of how many times punters miss getting on because people are on self service terminals putting on multis or other shite whilst big races are on.
