Does anyone actually like Cameron Ling ?

As a player i find it hard to support him. He may be a good player in the VFL comp, but in the AFL, he makes me cringe every time he gets the ball. He made at least 2 huge public cockups last year (i'm sure everyone can remember the essendon game) but as a guy told me at the Geelong Melbourne game, there are some players you can tell that won't be much of a prospect, and i feel cam ling is one of them.

That kick against Essendon will never be forgotten, but it was just a freak thing. I wouldn't read too much into that - even the greats have their moments (and it was only his 2nd game). It's the only real mistake he made in his debut season.

I'm not sure what other cockup you're refering to, but he did get publicity for his refusal to rush a behind in the draw against Port. It looked bad on TV, but the scoreboard showed only 23 minutes. He did the right thing trying to kick a goal.

I think he could be a good footballer. He's got strong hands and he's a smart player who can bring others into the game.

I understand that because he made a blunder in a game that had a big audience, along with the fact that he's got red hair, the usual Geelong morons are ready to write him off.

The answer is: Yes, I do, and on the official Geelong Messageboard quite a few others do as well. As a matter of fact I don't believe anyone has bagged him there yet.

You Turlough would bag your mother if you thought it was going to get you some publicity and like a fool I have responded. Will I ever learn??

There is no difference to me bagging ling and some of the other twits on the other GFC board (yes there is quite a few)who bagged Barry Stoneham last year. I do not think Ling has much potential that is all .

Cameron Ling is a pretty good prospect. A mid-sized player, can take a mark, runs well, and plays solid at the footy (from what I have heard at least). He did alright in the games I saw of him, in his first year.

Ling looks a fairly decent player. Many players have missed goals like that one Ling missed and its just a blip on otherwise successful careers. You're not fooling anyone Turlough.

Still think the best commentator out of players who represented Geelong in the last 20 years is Cam Mooney. Maybe he’s not as good as Jimmy Bartel but Mooney at least tries to have a good time and that brings people in whereas Jimmy and Ling being on 7… well we all know how 7 operate zzz

It's how much of what passes for debate on this board rolls to this day. Tolerance and politeness are rarely practiced by those foisting their own particular polemic upon us all here.

Took a great deal of desire for Ling to turn around his career. Not many have done it.
We seen countless players come to a cross roads and choose to fall back on their off field endeavors rather than get out of their comfort zone. Ling shed the body weight and dedicated himself to out running the fittest players in the game.
He was an underrated player in my opinion. Similarly to Corey.

I'd hold onto to Lingy for a bit and see how he works out.

I reckon he has a tank and great work ethic.
He can kick a goal.
He is big for a mid.

He may be able to turn himself into an effective tagger, and I suspect he is well liked and respected around the club.

Give him a few more seasons, you just never know.
